age is your friend. I had terribly hayfever, almost to the point of being asthmatic, until is was 46. The next Summer it had disappeared.

£450 for running a tractor and gang mower over the lot!!!!????

Our local parkkeepers do 3 football pitches in 30 minutes.

It wouldn't be that much around here, but the grass crop was worth about £1k last year, so I'd rather do a bit of work and have the hay to swap for meat & logs. :D

Now things are under control, I can get around the lot twice in about 8 hours using the knapsack sprayer. It's extremely tedious, but I need only use about £30 worth of chemicals a year now, and that way, most of the land remains untouched.:)

I once worked with a chap who used to mow 4 acres with a big ride-on. He liked riding around on his toy, but to my mind it seemed a terrible waste of a resource. :(

Likewise; I didn't have hay fever until I lived in Bedfordshire where a lot of fields were growing oilseed rape back in the 80s. Had it seemingly forever afterwards but it faded away in my 40s.

Not completely gone in my case but hardly ever a problem now.;)

Friends of ours have just bought a holiday home...

    converted barn....just off a dirt track....off a council estate!

Only 45 minute drive from home.....

Silly money. Comes with a tractor for mowing the lawn in the paddock and walled garden!

Not even detached as it is attached to another barn conversion.

Anyone want to play weed bingo? These are what I have in my garden...

    Scarlet pimpernel
    Sow thistle
    Mind your own business
    Couch grass
    Nettles
    Brambles
    Bindweed
    Rose of sharon
    Daisy
    White clover
    Dandelion
    Buttercups

Fortunately I don't have ground elder or japanese knotweed, but I do have something that looks like japanese knotweed in its early stage but then doesn't grow, can't find that in any books.

At some point I will probably get someone in to nuke the lot as it is a losing battle with basic chemicals and hand gardening tools. Astroturf is looking increasingly appealing.

You said that just as DH (who is rapidly on the road to becoming plain H) was playing it. As much has he would like to tell you otherwise, he does not currently constitute "anyone musical".
