You could ask people who have the Takeaway book by McGovern if it contains the prawns recipe... then you could make sure you had those ingredients in, ready for "next time".
Remind me later. I've a copy somewhere.
Dandelion is called pis en lit in french...wet the bed. But its also a diuretic. Thats where that comes from.
    Is the antidote burdock?;)
And why does dandelion and burdock taste so much like Sarsparilla? If it's fermented does that mean there's booze in it?

POSH ALERT!!! If no-one has beat me to it.

I'm getting to the stage that I need to do something as my lawn is turning more into a dandelion allotment.

We have 4.5 acres of lawn, otherwise known as 'fields.' :)

When we came here, these field lawns were full of docks, thistles ragwort and encroaching bracken, but now they've very few of those.

The fields have plenty of dandelions though, which are good nectar sources early in the year. Even the buttercups, which I'd prefer to be less abundant, are enjoyed by partridges.

So, there's a sort of balance, with some weeds being tolerated and others controlled. :D

I'd love to say all this has been achieved in an organic, wholesome way, but if the truth is told, I've had more than a bit of help from Messrs Monsanto and Dow. :o

Last time I checked I do score higher in autism tests than most, but just short of being labelled.

So, you failed your Autism test. How does that make you feel? You must try harder next time?

They are called '!!!!ebloem' (pee flower) in Flemish also.
But I never knew about the diuretic thingy.
Another useful piece of info picked up in the NPT!

(edit : the !!!! is 'pis' with double s)

I much prefer the look of a lawn with worn bits where dogs and children play, daisies to make chains out of, seed heads blowing in the wind.....

I love moss in laws, love it.

I really, really dislike 'good lawns'.not because they are not impressive, they really are, and have. Beauty all there own...but because....well...i do.

My old college has fabulous lawns. The gardener's reply when asked what the secret is: "Just feed it, water it, and mow it ..... for 500 years."

If you just mow the fields every couple of weeks, does that not simply exhaust all the larger weeds?

That's my theory. A weekly mow (with stripes!) and the lawn flowers are far less noticeable. Though I did notice today that the gardners were doing the lawn together, one walking behind the mower pusher with some spray.

Try posting that on the benefit board, replacing "autism" with "disabled" and see what grief you get!
