This thread moves fast thank you for the the suggestions, I have been out and sprayed them with a spot weed killer and removed the head of every single one to try and slow down the seeding.

I would happily borrow a rabbit if there is one nearby, thats goes for goats or llamas to.

What is this weed and feed I hear of? sounds like it might be what I need.

So I couldn't persuade you to love a dandelion? Shame.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Based on what evidence? That makes me very angry. I hope the school deals with the teacher in a very firm manner. Google 'autism' and 'mental instability' and there's hardly a mention. Google 'genius' and the same and there's tons, but they'd readily fawn over child geniuses and wouldn't dream of saying something like that in class.

PS: we have autism in my family too, though not as immediate as yours.

It made him very angry and he certainly let her know that autism does not mean mental instability, just that they see things differently to the rest of us.

He didn't make a huge thing out of it and I only found out last night she said it (apparently it was quite some time ago), so she has probably forgotten by now. He prefers to correct people than get them into trouble.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who put autism under the umbrella term of mental health when it isn't really, just like there are still those who insist that a person cannot be autistic unless they are sitting in a corner rocking to themselves.

So we try to educate to give an understanding than punish, which would only serve to make people more anti.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

We tried feed'n'weed once. Problem is that it is for serious gardeners, so my definition of a weed was different to its. What I expected it to feed it treated as a weed. Result was I had very little grass left and lots of brown patches.

As a child I was told that kids who pick dandelions wet the bed; don't know if it is true or if it only applies to kids.....

Dandelion is called pis en lit in french...wet the bed. But its also a diuretic. Thats where that comes from.

Last time I checked I do score higher in autism tests than most, but just short of being labelled.

To be honest I can see I think differently on many things so will often be the odd one out, but on the flipside a different view is also a strength and has got me very far in life.

I suppose I have a very good self awareness of this so also know when to stay quiet.

Is there a good online one we can all try?

I must admit I do like a nice lawn (we had a really nice croquet lawn when I was growing up, I think it had probably also been used for tennis but my parents put in a tennis court on what had been the 'hard' horse exercise yard - open goal for you here PN) and some time when I am (much) older and have 'spare time' (what is that anyway) I will dedicate myself to having a nice lawn...although suffering terrible hay fever means it will have to be more of a look but don't touch thing which rather ruins the point if you can't sit on it and appreciate the softness and uniformity.

I much prefer the look of a lawn with worn bits where dogs and children play, daisies to make chains out of, seed heads blowing in the wind.....

I love moss in laws, love it.

I really, really dislike 'good lawns'.not because they are not impressive, they really are, and have. Beauty all there own...but because....well...i do.
