Weeds? Erm lots but couldn't tell you what 'brand' as I am rather well known by my brother for pulling up proper plants and leaving the some what prettier weeds thinking they are the proper plants.
I'm banned from doing anything in the garden as a consequence...think the last straw might have been me pulling up and throwing away an ultra expensive real plant :rotfl:
Hayfever? Came on at age 10/11 and still have it now, it is one of my triggers for my asthma although I never take anything for it (the hayfever, not the asthma)...I get even worse reactions from the medications!
Another big step forward for youngest son tonight, he went to the cinema with a friend. Ok, he was dropped off to the door and picked up from the door but for the whole film, it was just him and a friend. Think he did get a little eek at one point as I had a whole flurry of nonsense texts but he said he enjoyed the experience. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

I take my hat off to people who can recognise all those different weeds.
I'm hopeless. Plants are a mystery to me (well identifying them anyway). Avoid thinking about them.
Have to teach the basics about them at work though. Only just realised when teaching about pollination a few weeks ago that the reason so many plants are hermaphrodites must to double their chances of pollination if the winds change direction.
Especially when half their pollen seems to end up the nasal passages of us good NPs.:DThere is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Hayfever is strictly nose and eyes for me. The itching corneas are the worst bit. It never affects my breathing. But then nothing does - colds & flu are also always nose and throat for me with lungs still fine. I usually spectacularly lose my voice with colds & flu, though, which is a nuisance for teaching. Sodium cromoglycate eye drops (aka opticrom) are like magic for me, coupled with cetirizine (aka zirtek) if I'm likely to be exposed to the allergen for longer than the eye drops will work for. I use them for cats as well as for pollen, and occasionally need them for dust if there's loads and loads of it.Another big step forward for youngest son tonight, he went to the cinema with a friend. Yay! Go Youngest. :T:)Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

That's good news!
When I stop and think how I spend my time I realise much of it consists of me (or DW) acting as taxi as DS isn't remotely ready for public transport.
Just had a parents evening at his school with mixed but generally OK news.
There would be a massive market for small private schools with small numbers of dedicated teachers adept at dealing with e.g dyslexia, ASD and other conditions.
Well when I say massive market I suspect there aren't many players because of narrow profit margins. It takes dedicated visionaries to make these places work as we found out when his last school got sold off.
Too much of our economy seems based on giving us a great selection of trainers, mobile phones and mortgages for the inadequate shoeboxes we call houses. Instead of stuff that, for example, matters, such as education for kids who might have slightly different needs. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Yep, that is pretty much how my time is spent too Zagubov... neither middle or youngest would be able to cope on public transport alone. Youngest as it would freak him out and middle son because he is a danger to himself/naive beyond belief.
We were lucky with youngest son's junior school, the head teacher was very forward thinking and moved heaven and earth making sure his needs were catered for and never giving up on him. Most of the time, it was just tiny little adjustments which made all the difference (like youngest arriving at school 20 minutes before all the other children did and leaving 20 minutes earlier at the end of the day to avoid the rush/crowds in the playground)
The high school they are at are also extremely good with them (there are a few odd teachers who are the exception but they are thankfully only a small number). I had been worried that the change over to an Academy would disrupt things but the Senco and her staff are still the same people, so the status quo has been kept.
The proof is in the pudding though with middle son, no other school had managed to hold his interest or contain his aggression/violence until he went to this high school. They actually took note of what was in his statement and listened to me and his outreach teachers/specialists and implemented them. They still cannot believe the reports from the senco's at his other schools are about the same child as all they have seen is a gentle giant, a perfectly polite young man who is amenable and helpful to others...albeit with a horrendous short term memory, one who likes everything just so and who cannot read between the lines (this caused horrible problems last school year as one teacher didn't give straight out instructions but assumed that the students would connect the dots and get the right idea....middle son couldn't connect the dots)
In fact, middle son's high school is proud of what he and his other Aspergic peers have achieved and the way they are helping other, less socialised autistic/painfully shy/distuptive students to become more accepted through their combined love of music. We made it! Zag, I can’t wait for my girls to be old enough to drive, and will happily buy them a car/insurance and even put fuel in it until they can afford to, just to not do it.
Mine are 8 and 10 💙💛 💔0 -

zag, how old is your son? I know he is ASD - do you think he will eventually be able to manage public transport, or do you think it will always be unsuitable for him?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Just a quickie for someone that was saying about our fleet covering large miles.

I think I put 4 miles on this one
