Not when it's John Lewis.
Humax PVR, totally screwed after a few weeks. Humax offered a refurb. John Lewis said that was poo and sent another new one. Not only that, but they got it here long before the Humax machine arrived, only to be sent away again.
Happy consumer here.
I'm defintely too much of a luddite. Had to google what a PVR was!
Just realised if I do get rid of the cable box, it'll be the first time I've been without cable in nearly 20 years.
I got cable in the first place because there were two satellite services back then, BSB and Sky, I couldn't make my mind up, and the cable box supplied them both. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Olympic Torch...I would have to get in the car and drive at least 30 minutes there and the same back, struggle to find a parking space or pay through the nose to get cold and wet and see the torch pass by for 30 seconds....we don't all live in the centre of everything you knowPasturesNew wrote: »It's raining... and the Olympic torch will be here shortly... if it's dry and I remember, I might walk out and see it (100 yards); if it's raining, then I won't bother.
I know my departed old would have LOVED watching it go past the house, so proud about that and telling everybody .... the old was into the Olympics.
Me.... can't be 4rsed.I think....0 -

Go Belgium, go!We've never had one. I need an excuse to just stand and stare, like in the poem. If I do that outside, I see something I should be doing....:o
We never had a dishwasher either and probably won't be getting one anytime soon. I don't mind doing dishes, it's relaxing. I just hate picking food bits out of the sink hole. :cool:0 -
Olympic Torch...I would have to get in the car and drive at least 30 minutes there ....
The Olympic cycling road race is passing a couple of hundred yards from our house, but I don't think I'll be going to have a look. They probably will whizz by in a flash anyway.
However, when we were kids and the Tour de France came through Belgium, we always went watching. Not so much for the riders, but the cars and vans in front and behind the 'peloton' used to hand out (throw out) lots of goodies like pens, balloons, keyrings, sweets, caps...0 -
I would go and see the torch or the cyclists if its so close, might as well....you never know, pn, there might be a single, goodlooking aspie loving bloke there watching too, or younmight find a pound on the floor.
I am riding the ripples of someones elses drama atm, and exhausted by it.0 -

He might get one of PN's factual responses though.
Good looking bloke : "Can I invite you for a drink?"
PN: "No thanks, I'm not thirsty"0 -

On the other hand, if she finds a pound she can buy them each a cola.:D
Thing is, most men say they dislike the guessing games of women, so you think a perfectly factual straightforward woman would be ideal.....0 -

It's better to be an alcoholic than a webmaster scrapping for pennies....:
Scenario 1: Today, unexpectedly, I found myself sitting in a bar all afternoon, gazing out to sea in comfortable and warm surroundings. An alcoholic would do this every day.
Scenario 2: Upon my return, I checked my income (quickest/easiest way to check all sites are up and running) - and spotted a blip in income from one of them... so, spotting the opportunity of easy money I logged into that website, planning to add more content and tweak a few things to bring some traffic my way this week .... but, as often happens, I was advised that several parts of my site needed to be upgraded. That's OK, there's a link, you click it, it's automatic. It seems that what is also automatic is that one of those upgrades took the whole site down. So, 3 hours on and a part of my site functionality is now turned off (annoying/inconvenient) and it took 3 hours to get to this point. This is how website owners spend their time.
What a waste of time... should have stayed down the pub.0 -

And it'll probably rain.0
