Pastures, I think you are much more moneysaving than I am. But I do try.0

Months  I found myself signing up to Linked in messaging so I could complain to the marketing director I was so frustrated. Allegedly they had closed their factory in Wales (?) (
A lesson I also learned a while ago! I bought a tumble dryer which had broke down within 3 months. The guy came along and did "something" and it worked again. Couple of months later, same again.
The feeling I had bought a dud was confirmed when googling problems for that model.
It's an easy fix but involved removing about 8 screws from the back and resetting the over-temp thing with a pin.
I always have a good search for problems on any new appliance I'm thinking off getting now.
I'm another who doesn't think dish washers are worth it for the same reasons viva says.
Drives me mad watching mum faff about steeping, rinsing and placing things in a certain way for the dish washer to work properly.
Could have had them washed, dried and away by that time.0 -

By 10 or 12 it was Shandy or Perry at special occasions.
Sherry trifle at Xmas every year from as early an age as I can remember, and Crannachan on occasion too.
Probably only because the parents were quite happy for the kids to get tired and go to sleep early.
I used to slurp the head off my dad's beer from a very young age....apart from that, we didn't really have much alcohol given to us (if any at all, certainly can't remember it)
For the boys, middle son has only just started to have little bits of wine (not a whole glass) and he is 15. Youngest at 14, can't have alcohol because of his assortment of tablets he has to take daily to keep his asthma in control.
Eldest at 18 is out clubbing every Saturday night...but doesn't drink to excess, he purposely doesn't take much money out with him so he does not get tempted to overdrink like some of his friends (plus being too drunk would interfere with his pole climbing ability that he likes to impress the girls with :rotfl:)We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Makes me wonder what common household machine the NPs could live without most easily?
I don't watch the telly at all, but catch up on shows on the computer.
Reminds me, must sound out the family about getting rid of the cable TV package.;)
A dishwasher!
Don't have one and really can't see the point in having one.We made it! I scrape excess food into the bin and put dishes straight in dishwasher. Never steep or rinse first. If the dishwasher fails to clean them properly then they may be soaked until time for the next run, where the dishwasher gets them again. Everything goes in, plastics on the top shelf, saucepans wherever I find room.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Months  I found myself signing up to Linked in messaging so I could complain to the marketing director I was so frustrated. Allegedly they had closed their factory in Wales (?) and shipped the machine tools to the far east and had to wait for them to get there and turn them on befor ethey could get the part needed
I had to wait about 3 months to get a fridge freezer replaced last year, posted about it on this thread.
Dealt with the manufacturer not the retailer. Wanted a replacement not a repair so was prepared to wait and keep arguing.
You should expect modern white goods to last 10-20 years and if it breaks within 6 years you should expect a refund (unless like me you wanted a replacement instead). There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

I've always found Panasonic good to deal with.
I had one of their microwaves which got a problem after around 6 months. They sent a new replacement which arrived the next day.
Your right. Always best to deal with the manufacturer.0 -

When you're poor, it's either:
1] You're spending more than you need/have
2] You never have it in the first place
Most people are [1], I've spent a life of mostly [2]... except some blips when for awhile I was rolling in it, well, not by anybody else's standards, never made it to higher rate tax payer, but rolling in it for me0 -
Two days of sunny weather and what am I doing???? Went to Aldi and found myself slipping bl00dy salad stuff into my basket!! Well, a pack of 3 peppers. I've got 4 pitta breads to eat and 4 eggs, so I figured if I bought some cheesy coleslaw and a pack of peppers that's lunch and tea (dinner to you posh lot) sorted for the next 4 days... which will be pushing it as the pittas say "use within 2 days of opening" and the eggs are BBE 20th. But I should get away with it.0

You forget I am a professional shopper...It was on sale at very (littlewoods) and then they had mistakenly let people use a 33% of any order voucher uncapped so purchased for less than40% of rrp so offered refund from retailer was no where near getting me a replacement.did you consider returning it to the retailer for a refund?
I think you are shopping a different segment of the market from me, I expect things to last a year and 2 years is a bonus...You should expect modern white goods to last 10-20 years and if it breaks within 6 years you should expect a refund (unless like me you wanted a replacement instead).I think....0
