A lesson I've learned as well.

Mattresses.... Bought what I considered to be a reasonably expensive one a year or so ago, and it's already getting uncomfortable. May well have to spend a fair bit more than I thought to get that balance right, which is bl00dy annoying, given I spent a lot more than the cheapest options in the hope of getting it right the first time.

    .

We went shoping for a new mattress a couple of weeks ago but came home empty handed.

I liked the one in JL that cost £6000. Mr Spirit was put off by the price.

We usually agree on everything, but not this. I tried explaining he could put lots of peas underneath it and I would never know but he just didn't seem to care.

    Ouch.

Dh and i are getting a new hand me down bed soon. :o we have been mattress shopping a few times, but like you, do not agree. We tried a wonderful soft one that felt like a cloud but dh and the salesman bleated on a bout firm mattresses this and firm mattresses that. I wanted the soft cloud marshmallow fluffbucket bed.

I also quite like the memory foam ones i have tried in shops, but dh doesn't like the way they deflate under one gor a few moments. He think he would have dreams about jumping out of planes or off buildings.

Our bed is getting increasingly uncomfortable now.

Blimey .... I bought a good mattress in 1990 for about £180 (well, it was a whole bed for that), but that was a lot of money..... and I finally binned the bed and mattress 17 years later, even though it was still perfect, unmarked, not sagging at all .... immaculate. I only got rid of it as I was moving out of my house and onto my current homeless-style-wandering-around status.

You would have to buy a young tree i think. Another 'shame you ate not closer' moment!

It is doable, ask on green fingered.

The alternative: I guess the sale is going through soon? If not fruit with e leaves can be id'd for a fee by some people ?..not sure who, rhs maybe.
They are SO good, I was told today (out of the blue) by somebody who had a bag of them last year ... "I made a special pie for my visiting family and said to them they must enjoy this pie as it's probably the very last time they will ever taste apples this good for the rest of their lives". These are GOOD.

Gosh. I would defintely ask new owners if you can come back get a rip apple and leaves on a small branch and send it off. Some things are worth a small fee.

What about one of those half and half ones? Would they work for you?

Olympic Torch...I would have to get in the car and drive at least 30 minutes there and the same back, struggle to find a parking space or pay through the nose to get cold and wet and see the torch pass by for 30 seconds....we don't all live in the centre of everything you know :)

The torch is going through St Albans though. I know you can't street park easily but wouldn't you be able to walk to the route, or take a bus?

I'd like to know where! Well, I know where ... I'd have to take him down Asda, then lurk near the Pepsi until somebody was trying to buy 2 cans... and then convince them to come to the aisle that sells 8 for £2, point out to them how two single cans is more than £1 and to go halves on an 8-pack with me. Then, in the car park, split the pack. Then find somewhere to sit and drink it.

Or pop to Wilkos where cans of Coke and Diet Coke are 50p each and have the bonus of being chilled.

Just thought you should know. For when you a) find a pound coin and b) there's a gorgeous aspie and c) there's no-one else watching and d) you're closer than 100 miles from the nearest Wilkos.

    Bound to happen.

I take it all back - I went on the interactive map page before and it doesn't look like it is coming closer than Luton...but then if you ask to see the route and zoom in it is passing the end of our road may be a whole 200m so we might wander out to have a look although I think it will be in the middle of DD1s birthday party....
