I am thinking of doing a blog, sort of a weekly diary type thing, initally for my own amusement rather than trying to make any money. PN what do I need to do to set this up so that if it does come to anything it is in the right place?
    I think....

I do remember a girl at work saying she was getting a king size bed, I pointed out I could fit a king size bed but choose not to, she looked at me a little stange and said asked why.

    The answer:
Because we still like each other.

Dh used to say he wanted us to always sleep in a single bed. we are in a five foot one now, having graduated from a four foot six when the dog slept on the bed as well as us and the cats. I some times worry about the making of a HUGE bed being too heavy.

Making beds doesn't have to be heavy. One fitted sheet... simply affix the first corner and walk round to do the rest.
Then, chuck a sheet over the bed... walk round to pull it across.

Then, my secret product.... another idea I've had for years that nobody's done yet.

That is too big a question to answer simply.... but:
You need to own your domain name and make sure your domain name and hosting are with a reputable company. I've had a host disappear (taking my domain name and hosting with them, taking me a week to get that sorted out).
If you want the free route, try blogger.com rather than wordpress.com as you can put adverts (adsense) on blogger, you can't on wordpress.com.

If you've got your own domain name and hosting, then log in and you'll probably find a one click install of Wordpress. This is from Wordpress.org and you have complete control over that, so you can put adverts on it.

You need to build up a readership and traffic .... and I have a ton of stuff in my head I could tell you.... but you have to find your own way as everybody is different in what they can do, what they can do and what works for them and their niche.

For adverts: join adsense and some adnetworks...

Ideally you should build a membership, and send out newsletters to them - so you have to navigate the whole arena of getting people to sign up and managing to get newsletters out to them and not into their spam folders.

    Huge subject really.

To keep it simple: Just sign up at blogger and start wrting stuff... worry about all the rest once you've got some stuff... most people stop writing blogs after less than 12 posts.

Thanks, the blogger bit is all I needed for now. Not sure if I will make 12 posts either...

    Did you miss me?

    I'm home from hospital. :)

    Two tips:

If your doctor offers the option of leaving it or operating - go for the operation. second time in my life that what appears on the scan was not was going on inside me.

Choose to stay in overnight, rather than rush home. In hospital you have nurses and oxygen at hand when you suddenly collapse!

Anyway consultant is happy that operation has solved all the problems, so it all ends well.
