Imagine somebody who has never had to do stuff for themselves.... and 3 sandwiches short of a picnic..... gnarly hands randomly poking numbers, sometimes missing, sometimes repeating...... and that panic button's just asking to be stabbed isn't it :)

    Best spend the £144 then

You can get cheap but serviceable handsets from morrisons (I have one) -colour screen but no other frills.

I bought my mum this one cause of the sos button- http://ttsims.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=316
That'd be too complex.... that's for seniors.... move on another 30 years and add in a big sprinkling of clueless.... and that's where I'm at.

It's tough ... didn't want to get a phone, but there's been some miscommunication and they've ended up asking her about one and now she thinks she's getting one.... so trying to work out the options to prevent (especially me) being randomly dialled over some addled nonsense (the old hallucinates for starters.... and sometimes loses 30 years). I should add that the old didn't even used to use the phone at home as the master of the house made the calls :) The old seems to believe they need to be able to contact people... but they have everything in the home, people to ask for things, people to help if they're ill, runners to go out and fetch things.... with a phone, the old can wreak all manner of untold havoc....

Or the £80 Amazon option (plus my cashback on that) ... or cheaper on eBay.

It's a tough one really .... don't want to withhold stuff .... but can't see that it'd be used appropriately. e.g. I could imagine a call, at some unknown future point, when maybe I am in my first day of a good job and I'd randomly get a phone call at 10:30 am with tears saying "get me out of here" when I am 200 miles away.... and I can't deal with that.

Erm In what time period? - I thought recommended dosage is 400mg no more often than 4 hours but then you are the medical expert....

For a healthy normal adult, the NHS over the counter recommendation is 400mg x 4 over 24 hours = 1.6g

You can get prescribed double the dose for a SHORT period of time. I am taking this only today so i can stretch the muscle out. In fact, I have only taken 800mg x 3 so far and may not have the last dose.

Also, please remember you shouldn't take NSAID like ibuprofen on an empty stomach, you must line your stomach.

You can't buy muscle relaxants OTC in this country, which a lower dose would have helped but I was making do. :o

I'd heard that but it doesn't say it on the packaging does it?

Are the muscle-relaxants able to be used for other purposes hence the OTC restriction?

Then what you could do is buy four cheap PAYG mobiles. You have one each. You buy the old the four button one, she can only call the PAYG mobiles. When you have anything important to do, want to sleep or can't handle the stress, you switch yours off.

Incidentally, my Mum won't even give me her mobile phone number. She says it is for "emergencies only" so won't let me have the number. I'm not sure what she's trying to say there:o. I do at least have the house phone number courtesy of the fact that it's the same as when I lived there. And my Dad's phone number, well at least until he loses it, again.

2 hours of nailing it in the gym tonight, drank 2 litres of water and I still lost 2kg. That's a lot of sweat. Must rehydrate...and calm down.

Sounds like a mobile phone without a SIM card is the answer.
