It's the right concept though, so now you know it exists. It's just a matter of finding the Doro or similar cheaper. You can get cheap but serviceable handsets from morrisons (I have one) -colour screen but no other frills.

Just started looking and have got down to £80 incl postage via Amazon. I don't eBay, but you could get even cheaper there.

Imagine somebody who has never had to do stuff for themselves.... and 3 sandwiches short of a picnic..... gnarly hands randomly poking numbers, sometimes missing, sometimes repeating...... and that panic button's just asking to be stabbed isn't it
