James has got the Sony one.....very good quality and works well in dim lighting.

Got the Sony one, but a bit different model, the CX190

When I went to uni later, found I was a fan of Curved Air.
I heard on the radio today that Curved Air are playing at Tavistock on Friday .... so they're out and about in some bizarre places if you felt like reliving your youth.

I've got a free dinner .... well, two free dinners ..... got to log onto a website to find out what .... but ... it's a collection of a hot fast food item (on a BOGOF). The company doing it all phoned me just as I was bringing my food shopping in, there's a tight deadline on it, but I probably don't fancy doing it today/tonight. I'll see what the details say.

It's a fast food place that charge a fortune and I've never eaten from... so that's a double result really.

I've just seen my cousin on TV.

He was being interviewed next to his property in Tewkesbury as the flood waters rise........he appeared far too happy and unconcerned about it, which seemed to confuse the poor BBC interviewer, as they clearly want everyone to panic.

He should have mentioned that his son is an Olympic Gold medal winning rower (from Beijing) which would have been a far more interesting chat.
I had to evacuate from a B&B I was staying at (working in the area) in the floods of 2000/2001, which was close to there - that year Tewkesbury was completely cut off from the outside world. I'd got up really early and watched the water creeping along the gutter... it's a really creepy thing to watch along a side road and you have to lob fag ends at it etc to even double check it's moving..... eventually got the "everybody out and there's no point coming back ever" shout and used two tesco bags on my feet to get to the car. Place was closed down from that day. I was in Longlevens.

It's a beautiful day here today. Get out and enjoy the first spot of sunshine for a fortnight!
Today there was sun early on .... then it clouded over and it's been wet and worse .... and worsening. Currently close to gale force winds, howling down the chimney, and it's wet.... and the wind's coming from a different direction to usual too, so colder.

Oh - HUGE fire in Cornwall this afternoon. Hotel, on the seafront, at Falmouth, burnt to the ground in double quick time.

Everybody assumed evacuated, but 12 people still listed as missing as they're probably on their holidays so out and about all day..... and nobody can actually check because the hotel books were inside the burnt shell.

    This is a major fire.

Falmouth Beach Resort http://www.bw-falmouthbeachhotel.co.uk/home - right on the beach. They've got the Olympic torch going there in 2 weeks... not.

    I'm sure it isn't, you know. ;)

Aren't there lots of people on there who are wailing because they haven't made sufficient provision for the changes they face, even if it's just "Boots over 60s Advantage Card -major devaluation!"

When I start threads like that, I'll be ready for me box! :(
I've made no provision .... but I wasn't ever in a position to do so. I think I'd be more miffed at having scrimped and struggled a lifetime to put a few bob away then lose it for some unexpected reason, like rules changes etc..... I'm going into it penniless .... finally get my "entitled to" portion :)

Some people were evacuated from the swimming pool - at the back ... in their trunks. So they'll have lost their house/car keys.
