Mrs. Wheezy got her Kindle last Christmas and she's really happy with it, she hasn't purchased much either.
Mostly free stuff, sometimes a Kindle deal of the day for 99p.

I must not forget to tell her not to stand on it though.

    What is Calibre?

    http://calibre-ebook.com/

I store ebooks on my PC with it, and it is very good at converting other formats to/from Kindle. So, if you have something in PDF format, for example, you can convert it to Kindle format. I know that in theory Kindle reads PDFs itself, but I've found that not to work at all well.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

it was on the floor because i was sleeping the spare room last night* and there is only a bed and the floor in there; nowhere else to put it.

    * mrs chewy is ill with a horrid cough which has kept me awake for 2 nights running and i needed some sleep, i have not been banished. so i got some sleep but it cost me £89.99!

why put it on the floor? I would tuck it on the side of the bed or under the mattress if i was in a room without a table.

and yes, you can redownload everything when you register your new kindle.

Ok thanks, will look into that. Yes, PDF's can look a bit weird formatting wise, or with random weird characters here and there.

    Hello!

I know I haven't been about much. Unavaoidable. Not able to be.

Just letting you know I hadn't fallen over the side rails of the titanic.

You've gone through 40 pages since I last posted. I'm not able to go through all that. Have I missed anyting important?

I may be about sporadically - really can't tell at the moment. I'm in for a rocky month...
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

Oh dear. Sounds bothersome for you. Glad to know you're still OK though.

I am tired and my brain is a blank, so I've no idea what the last 40 pages about. I'll have to hope that somebody else tells you, and that will remind me.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Parents offer accepted on a dear little house about forty fine mins away.
Then...bottom falled out pf their chain today...

    I know the feeling.

We spent 2 hours with the architect today and finally thrashed the plans into something we thought good, but the builder's back of an envelope estimate suggests we can only have it if we live here in total poverty afterwards.

To be fair to myself, I didn't envisage this level of work when we bought the place, but now, anything less looks like a short-changing exercise. And it will be less, I fear. :(
