Dh had his strawberry the chicken moment tonight.
The geese, who have spent today and yesterday swimming around the Cake like mini swan pedalos, wouldn't come in. Yesterday evening i managed to bribe them in at night with a hot cross bun (wrong on two counts, they shouldn't eat that and neither should we at this time of year imo)but tonight they realised the swimming was more fun than a stale bun and ignored us. I was prepared to leave them put, but dh stripped and slid into the cake and set off with a swift shivering breast stoke. The geese were horrified and half flew in side. Dh is in the bath now, but said it was lovely once he was in. He certainly looked like it was cold when he got out!0 -
I a tually really like michales garage. It looks very crisp and smart. I have never really considered a chic garage, but that is pretty near what i imagine that to be.0

That looks horrid! The problem with space station fittings is that they are probably pretty damn uncomfortable when gravity comes into play. Which is why they should never, ever, be installed in flats in Leicester. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Well The car on the right as you look could have been 6 inches closer to the wall but it was quite tight getting it in and it doesn't have rear parking sensors (and I did nearly crush the mains supply pipe/stopcock while manoeuvring it in...
Then there was about 4 inches between the cars (folded the mirrors in, luckily electric folding mirrors) so couldn't get out on that side but on the other side (furthest to the left) there was actually about 18 inches but some was taken up by junk (I lied when I said we had removed all the junk) but there was enough room to get in and out and luckily the car has a sort of 'bench' seat across the front so it is easy to get in and out wither side.
So altogether about 2'6 to spare and in my defence they are probably one of the widest cars on the road.
The garage will of course be a workshop/storage area and hopefully fit one car too but it would fit a 'hobby' car and still be usable as a garage.
WE still haven't got over the automatic door and judging by the envious looks we get from passers by nor have the neighbours, there is something very civilised about going from the house into the garage, into a car that isn't freezing and has no ice or condensation, pressing the door button and driving off, then returning having driven round the block being unsure as to whether I remembered to push the door down button...Looking at michael's garage picture again, I suspect he climbed out of the boot rather than the door!I think....0 -

While I was away though I got to see something I never thought I would. I went to NASA and they opened up the vehicle assembly building (where the Apollo rockets and Space Shuttles were put together). In volume terms it is one of the biggest buildings in the world, so impressive in itself. But when we got there we got an even bigger surprise in that two of the three surviving space shuttles were inside and we could see them close up. It was amazing to see the amount of engineering involved. The way the individual tiles fitted together, and the covers for the windows, and the hatch they got in and out through. All in something the size of a Boeing 757. Amazing.
Years ago (2004) we saw the launch of a probe to Mercury while we were visiting Florida. Was amazed to hear it arrived last March. Seven years! And that's, what, the third closest planet?
When I was a kid and there were all the moon landings (well, six of them) we thought we'd all be taking holidays on the moon by the year 2000!
We hadn't really grasped what a low-hanging fruit the moon was and how out of reach everything else really was.:oThere is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

I did get all techie this afternoon - used the facebook widget on DWs phone to link to MILs church website live stream and then connected phone via HDMI to TV so DW could watch live church service in Jamaica whilst ironing and scanning audience for her mum.PasturesNew wrote: »He's still in there... posting from his poshfone.I think....0

SNOW!!!
For some reason the geese keep sounding out the alarm. Dh has been over and had a look around and can't see or hear anything happening. Wonder if they are still traumatised from seeing dh in the buff earlier.0
