  • Hope you sort out the rats...what is happing with the gas?

There is a restaurant nearby which is leaving food out in its alleyway, which attracts the little darlings. And their drains aren't blocked, either. Environmental health have been very helpful, though. Unfortunately, this week Isaac was learning about the plague in 1665, and the role of rats in spreading it, and took some reassuring!

Our gas was mended in the sense of a new pipe last Sunday, and the boiler then turned out to need a new valve. So we've been cooking for the past week, but still not had any heating. That's being fitted today.

We've been advised to cherish this boiler as if it were our first born child, because although it was legal when fitted, current regs don't allow a boiler to be were it is now, so if it needed replacing, that would be a major PITA.

I've still not thrown mine off, youngest however, is now pretty much back to health with his peak flows starting to return to normal now.

James is the one that rarely comes down with anything and he also had bad reflux when he was a baby/toddler, mind you, he is also the one that comes down with the rarer stuff....he got mumps twice despite having the MMR and the booster! He has also had chicken pox twice, the first time giving it to now ex husband.

Youngest is the one that comes down with anything and everything, his constitution has never been wonderful. So a mild cold for anyone else, turns into a life threatening thing for him....but the wonderful new regime he is on now seems to have evened that up a little, even though it consists of very high dose steroids (so much so he has to carry a steroid card) plus other medication, on top of his normal puffers.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Why choose? Be both! I'll join you, if you like. We can be chav-scum together.

I don't like those doctors that make you feel a bit stupid and push you out of the door when you're not actually the type to turn up with just a cold.

My Mama, who is usually the type to see the best in everyone, has a loathing for the type of doctors who deal with pregnancy and childbirth (I can't even start to spell those words beginning with ob- and gyn-).

She has a theory that men only become that type of doctor because they dislike women.

She was once described in a loud voice by a doctor as being an "elderly primagravida". (Primagravida means first pregnancy). As she was 31, pregnant with her second child, had me aged 2 sitting in the room with my Granny, and had a massive c-section scar which was in full view, she took exception to the description on a number of fronts.

  • I have official PoA (took 5 months from start to end to get it in my hand - and even then banks make you do more !!!! to use that), but I had actual carte blanche right back to just before the first old died, with all PIns/cards meekly handed over.

My parents have, since I was 18, happily handed over theirs cards and asked me to get money out of the cash machine, if I was going out and they weren't. I know all their pins, too.

In fact, for a while after I was 18, I had a credit card on my mother's Barclaycard account, so that if I went to the supermarket for her, or put petrol in her car, I could just use that.

A lot of my parents' friends were horrified at the very idea, but all 4 of us did that, and we never abused it at all.

Some 18-year-olds can be trusted with access to other people's money, and some can't. It's a wise parent that knows the difference. Yours had obviously done a good job of bringing the four of you up to be honest - well done them (and all of you).
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Today has not been a good day, I wish I could tell some of you on here as I'm sure a few of you will understand but I can't :(

However, we have been out with chainsaws and mattocks in the garden which has cheered me up a little.

Oh missk. I hope it is either reversable or passes quickly. :(

We have been outside too, dh has been cutitng back some bramble and i have started the long task of stripping ivy with branches as thick as my wrist of a very old thorn tree. We came in for lunch but have convinced ourselves going back out is a bad idea. Getting warm is proving difficult and getting colder seems silly.

Both dh and i are repeatedly told my mothers PIN. Often loudly in public spaces. I dread to think who else she may give it to.
