Today has not been a good day, I wish I could tell some of you on here as I'm sure a few of you will understand but I can't :(

However, we have been out with chainsaws and mattocks in the garden which has cheered me up a little.

Hope whatever it is sorts itself out or at least improves a little, missk

Feeling verY spolit now, Dh has gone out to get wood for the week, but before goi g brought me a cup of tea, and wrapped me up in a duvet and a blanket and put a hot water bottle on my feet and a second one behind my back. That is love.

There is a restaurant nearby which is leaving food out in its alleyway, which attracts the little darlings. And their drains aren't blocked, either. Environmental health have been very helpful, though. Unfortunately, this week Isaac was learning about the plague in 1665, and the role of rats in spreading it, and took some reassuring!

Our gas was mended in the sense of a new pipe last Sunday, and the boiler then turned out to need a new valve. So we've been cooking for the past week, but still not had any heating. That's being fitted today.

We've been advised to cherish this boiler as if it were our first born child, because although it was legal when fitted, current regs don't allow a boiler to be were it is now, so if it needed replacing, that would be a major PITA.

Our gas bills always seemed high and we found out we had a badly-leaking pipe (now fixed).

The hot water wasn't working for a while and the repair man fixed that fault and solved a few other problems including the leak and didn't charge an arm and a leg.

When all the gas was off the meter was still turning, the leak was so bad.

    Now the house is cooking!

Kids are pretty good now thanks although DS still a little coughy. Sorry to hear about little Issac, I can't begin to imagine how it felt for you.

We spent yesterday demonstrating that we do have a double garage (or be it with a single door) - having done that and got the photos we will now start moving the 'junk/treasure' in and no doubt in not too long it will be tight even to get one car in...(apologies for the image size)

I have a dilemma, we have cleared a corner of our garden and we now have 3 medium ish trees and a terrible box hedge to get rid. I'm trying to convince OH to hire a woodchipper for the day/weekend but he wants a skip.

Any other ways of getting rid of it? I need a proper landscaper as well. I'm going to get a bit more of the garden done this year.

Probably doesn't help in a rsidential area, but we burn all our stuff like that. Over the weediest pTches we can find.

This site covers the nuisance/legal aspects of bonfires. Most people think they are illegal in built-up areas but this seems to be saying different. :o

We've had a big bonfire but the size of this might cause the neighbours (and the allotment behind to call the fire service!!) I'll take a pic in a bit, just going to get some stuff from shops.

    Cheat!

Doesn't count in my book unless you can get either car out without moving the other.

My grandparents once had a "double" garage; except it was double length rather than double width, also impractical.

I like that it promotes being a good neighbour too.

Burning works well for us. It means we don't have to spray where we have burned.
