This clip is hilarious, it's like something out of a Chris Morris spoof:

I have to say I think PN is correct - do it right first will save so much time and effort later. However I would follow GDB's method - minimum effort now chuck it all in and 'repent at leisure' as finding things I want takes ages or I have to rebuy stuff cos I can't look for it any longer.
I've always packed in a hurry before - and over the various moves I've done, I've ended up with a lot of stuff that needed binning - and a lot of stuff that needed to be brought together again. Now I can say that all my "similar stuff" items are finally reunited.

I am not moving from A to B.... I am moving from A to temporary B, to some storage and a hotel, to maybe a shared house, then to my own place.... over the next 3 months. So I just wanted to make sure that I could quickly and easily grab the right boxes and know I would end up with "clothes that fit; everyday cooking utensils" and not "box of old paperwork that should be shredded; empty plastic storage boxes".

Once I've got my own place, I can then pick up the stuff that goes into storage when I come down to visit the old... at leisure.... knowing my "jacket that might be ideal for an interview" isn't mixed up with "spare duvet covers and towels" and in storage..

Sits back and waits to hear all the reasons why that simply can't possibly work.
    Just one word: Aspie.
    :)

"Simply" doesn't work, nor does "Just ask".

Perhaps we could discuss on Viva's 'what now for the middle east thread where we seem to talk about this sort of thing. It would be really interesting to hear your opinion on the matter - there are some highly regulated E Asia countries which seems to equal less freedom but rapid improvements in standards of living. A conundrum.
I couldn't even tell you where the Middle East is .... I could wave a hand roughly over it over an outline map.

    No idea what's going on.

I'm not ever going to go there .... so it's kind of under my radar.

I know they have camels and oil.

Yeah, but I have a bedroom full of cr*p from following that method. The problem is there's always something better to do, like saying hi to you lot.
That's the difference between living in a large house and living the studio life.... I don't have the luxury of space... and my next space will be even smaller than this one. Also, because the 'old' situation's changed, I've had to sort out all that stuff that everybody leaves at their parents for years because it's easy..... didn't have a lot of that, to be fair, but it does exist.

Hope we get to see the footage elsewhere soon sue

I don't have nightmares often if ever. maybe one or two a year. I wouldn't mind a go of this "hand under the bed thing" :A

Thanks to PN's enthusiasm, I have installed evernote on my PC, browser and mobile. All I have done is a contact lens report so I know the issues and where I am with trailing them. The new pair are fab, if anyones interested :j I slept with them in for the first time and no issues at all. The trial may end with these ones already :)

Grass needs cut which takes a hour. Sooner I get on with it the sooner it's done :)

I think that's all I'm prepared to do for today. With small boxes, when I've picked them up, it's only the tips of my fingers underneath them - meaning I stagger and lurch towards to car, hoping the box doesn't slip and rip my fingernails off with it. And the top of the box is digging into my triceps. It's a side issue of being a right short-4rse. Big men could tuck one box easily under their arm and stroll off....

What you can use it for is almost unlimited.... it's genius!

I am now starting to use it for drafting things to write about and lists etc too. It could even easily copy/paste those MSE PMs that you have to either download or delete ... and if you've ever downloaded them, I bet £1 you've never gone to that file to look something up again as it's too hard to find where you saved it and paw through it.

Happy to go with this or with sticking with one thread to discuss unrest and social change (it may soon start applying to Europe too after all). Viva over to you to start it. Out on the main board you also find that specific posters have detailed local knowledge although I guess I can appreciate that MsK and others might want to be careful posting too much on subjects that are close to home so to speak. A shame there are bullies and trolls but such is life.

I think there should be a separate "what's new for the Far East" type thread. Just like the Mid East you have a whole bunch of different issues:

    * Growth of middle class in India
    * Clash between political freedom and growth in China
    * Slow struggle for rights in Malaysia and Indonesia
    * Role of countries such as Vietnam as wages in China raise
    * What will happen next in Burma/Myanmar
    * Two totally different political sides in Thailand
    * How Japan will recover from being hit by everything short of Godzilla
    * How the new Kim will steer the leadership of N Korea and how the states around will respond: up to the 1960s N Korea was wealthier than its southern neighbour.
    * The role of Bangladeshi peacekeepers working for the UN in acting as a $1bn bolster to the country's floundering economy.

Do you think that gives us enough starters to get one off the ground?
    I think....

What's interesting in the case of the Malaysian protestors is that there is a large diaspora of Malaysians abroad who continue to be attached to home and have organised simultaneous protests in 35 countries around the world. Many of them will be small, in the few hundreds but they will be there :)

international pressure is sometimes the only way forward especially with countries full of ruling autocrats.
