Sits back and waits to hear all the reasons why that simply can't possibly work.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I have to say I think PN is correct - do it right first will save so much time and effort later. However I would follow GDB's method - minimum effort now chuck it all in and 'repent at leisure' as finding things I want takes ages or I have to rebuy stuff cos I can't look for it any longer.
    I think....

Perhaps we could discuss on Viva's 'what now for the middle east thread where we seem to talk about this sort of thing. It would be really interesting to hear your opinion on the matter - there are some highly regulated E Asia countries which seems to equal less freedom but rapid improvements in standards of living. A conundrum.

Yeah, but I have a bedroom full of cr*p from following that method. The problem is there's always something better to do, like saying hi to you lot.

I think there should be a separate "what's new for the Far East" type thread. Just like the Mid East you have a whole bunch of different issues:

    * Growth of middle class in India
    * Clash between political freedom and growth in China
    * Slow struggle for rights in Malaysia and Indonesia
    * Role of countries such as Vietnam as wages in China raise
    * What will happen next in Burma/Myanmar
    * Two totally different political sides in Thailand
    * How Japan will recover from being hit by everything short of Godzilla
    * How the new Kim will steer the leadership of N Korea and how the states around will respond: up to the 1960s N Korea was wealthier than its southern neighbour.
    * The role of Bangladeshi peacekeepers working for the UN in acting as a $1bn bolster to the country's floundering economy.

Do you think that gives us enough starters to get one off the ground?

I blame you lot for my bad sleep last night and all the talk of nightmares.....every time I closed my eyes last night, I would wake terrified as something nasty happened in my dream. Not just the once but several times over many hours, not a nice experience at all.

Weird how reading about others talking about nightmares can influence my dreams isn't it?

I got the DVDs done last night, not sure how much cop they are as there are no bells and whistles, just plain videos on a disc. Had to have one small break as I went into an asthma attack part way through the last one that just wouldn't settle for ages, really thought we were going to have to call someone as the puffers were just not doing their job initially but my breathing did eventually settle.

If it had been my youngest, we would have been up at the hospital, he wouldn't have had the chance to protest but as it was me, I just persevered and hoped it would sort itself out...very naughty.

Bloody cold the kids gave me.....and I think it puts paid to the idea that as my asthma was so mild, it has gone away (according to the doctor last year, I was no longer a mild asthmatic).
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

As I'm always boring on about on other threads, you can use auctionsniper if it's a bidding auction, especially useful if you're buying in a different time zone. You register and enter the price you're happy to pay, sit back and let it bid at 3.30 in the morning or whatever. It emails you the result.

It's most useful if you've watched similar items sell and noted the sale price then compared that with what you'd happily pay for it.

Don't use this but can see it would be great - I think some people try and chase items beyond what they are worth but if you bid in the last seconds they can not do that. You used to get topcashback (ask me for a referral link) on most stuff at ebay worth about 3-5% of selling price but it is much more restricted now. :(

Actually the biggest benefit is that there's no last-minute bidding wars so that auctions that could end up with silly prices end up with sensible prices instead. And you can't panic at the end and get swept away with the moment!

I think I'm starting to understand why this thread is so active in the middle of the night when I'm tucked up asleep. Early morning it tends to be anyone with a smallholding (no pun intended) and me.

Crikey viva, didn't you know this was the Insomniacs-with- Broadband chatroom? :D

That settles it .... it's man and van for the next move. Had to unpack half the stuff from one box as I couldn't carry it. Got four boxes into the car now.... it keeps spitting with rain .... and I am looking at a whole big bunch of more boxes surrounding me too :(

I took the first box from here to the car (25 paces), then had to stop and have a rest before I opened the boot!

Why not just pack the way you want, and get a 'chap' to hump the heavy boxes for you? Perhaps, some local farming lad will do it for you for a six pack of beer, and you can throw in that bag of self-raising flour as a sweetener.
I am packing on the basis that my next move (3-4 weeks?) will be a simple division of the boxes, which are already checked.... one lot into storage and the rest in the car with me, to go off into the sunset to my great new life. So I am absolutely packing it absolutely precisely, so I can absolutely know that everything's in the right box and will therefore end up at the same destination :)

I don't know any farmers lads - and I'm sure they'd be more interested in supping beer and leering at barmaids than helping me.... and it'd take some days to organise somebody unreliable (dreckly).

As for the flour .... it bit the dust yesterday when I lobbed it in the bin.

This problem has also beenn space-related... if you have the space to get everything out and do it ... it's fine, but working in a limited space means it's a bugg4h and you soon lose the will.... also, it needs to stack in the smallest of spaces in my old's house in case [a] buyers want a second viewing buyers pull out and we have to start again and the house has to not look like an Oxfam warehouse.
