Having not ever needed my first/last passport, it didn't matter that it expired some time in the past ... but I do need one now and it's on my To Do list every day ... just never get round to it.
Re photo: me too - but I eventually dragged myself to a digital booth last week. I looked "OK" in a kind of "what do you expect for an old bird" kind of way. If you keep choosing to have another snap ... you end up with a choice of 3 photos. 3's the limit though. At 3 goes you have to choose one of them (or pay another £5).
Wish you could take them at home. Also, i thin the rules for pics have tightened?
I love my now old passport pic, it looked quite like me, and was easy. I don't look like a me i recognise, so a photo has less chance. Not to mention i don't think i live that sort of lifestyle now either. Dh has two trips in next few weeks, i have opted ...obviously, not to go on either!0 -
Foolishly iretuned the tv today. Now only have bbc and a few others...would rather have bbc than not have it, but sods law, i bet there is a good film on film four this week!0

Hey lir, thanks for asking - yes to both! I hope things are well with you too!? How's the planning / works on the house coming along? I haven't been around much due to an ever expanding to-do list calling on my time... it's a pity, as there's many interesting people and conversations here.0 -

Hahaha...doing a house does the sanity imo.
Planning through......now not much money to do anything about plans, lol.
We had a wall removed recently and a new truss put in, in the room that will be a kitchen. Have had a fe hitches, to be expected but frustrating nevertheless.....
Oh, a wall started falling down in early winter, but its ben temporarily braced. It was quite exciting though.
Have sent a tender package out for 'phase one', will then see if we can afford to progress with it or not .
Dh had a dicey few months at work, which was 'fun' but ok for time being.
We all gave had some dramas and laughs.
Malcolm, i a, not sure we know whether or not you like muhrooms?0 -

A very eventful winter then...! I bet the place will be mavellous when finished, just the journey there which will be ermmmm interesting. I hope everything goes well for fir and his job! I guess that's another key decider on whether to proceed with works or put plans on hold?
IME house-works are never quick, especially when structural. I hope the tender comes in affordable and in time for work to commence in the summer months!!
Mushrooms, hmmmm, I like the smaller ones, the large (and/or 'magic') type not so much so!?0 -

hmm, wheezy will have to decide where that puts you on his !!!!!! scale.
(we think mushroom dislikers are more prevalent on np thread than in society at large, and have formed two definite camps).
re works, its gonna take a couple of decades, work can ONLY be done in summer, as we have to use lime not mordern stuff, and needs to be done when no risk of frosts.. If not this year then next
we'll see, que sera sera.

I remember reading facebook pays people a dollar an hour to moderate their site.
Been putting in long, long hours in the past 2-3 days tidying up broken links, and stuff.... a tweak here and there....It's a pity there's not a similar bulk service for individual's websites and fixing broken links, day to day maintenance e.t.c. To free you up to work on things like website development.Or you could rely on helpful volunteers, like this place. Not that I know how to write (internet) code though.
There's also random off the cuff decisions and research that go on if I spot something and think it needs further investigation/tweaking/researching.0 -

I can pronounce Russian words (letter by letter, as opposed to how they're supposed to sound) when I see it on the telly, or online. I find a lot of words, when said, sound the same as English.
The again some English sounds like Russian, especially if you are watching A Clockwork Orange.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. First F1 race of the season...
Good to see McLaren starting off well, it sure looks like it won't be an easy ride for RedBull this season. Hopefully Ferrari can up their game a bit (a lot!).
Happily surprised by the performance of Lotus and Williams also, it should be an interesting season this year.
I enjoyed the race and it looks like it could be a good season.
I'm following Kimi this year as I was impressed with him and he seems more mature this time round :beer:0 -

I like sex but would choose access to water over it......exercise, not so much. Sex is exercise anyway, innit?
You might find Maslow an interesting read. He was an American psychologist who did some great work in the 1950s & 60s about the Heirarchy of Needs.
His idea was that there are a set of needs that must be fulfilled before we can fulfill the next set. As you say LIR, physical needs (food, water, shelter) come first; then freedom from fear. Next is 'love' a part of which is the physical act. The Heirarchy continues from there.
I guess that you could say that broadband is so important in our lives it has become a basic physical need: if you accept that, and believe in Maslow's theories, then it is completely reasonable to state that broadband is more important than sex. Personally, I would include broadband in Self Actualisation but that doesn't make me right, it just means I prioritize things in a particular way.0
