Interesting that people are closing bank accs etc. I have a few bank accs with only £1 in them. I have 3 halifax reward accounts that I keep swiping £5 from each month, but don't keep anything in there. I've a couple of accounts I closed recently because They were decent accounts when opened, but have fallen by the wayside.

I'm also merging 3 ISA's into the santander 2 year 4% offer thats available at the mo.

I seem to go through stages of having more accounts, then amalgamating a number of them into bonds or similar.

Currently having the personal debate about whether to go S&S ISA in april or not...
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

    On the incapacitation/decapitation thing...

Was it painful/is it painful? well, yes & no, as it was a drawn out process, still ongoing. As with so much in life, there are ups & downs, peaks & troughs. Fortunately, my head is still connected to the rest of me...

I was rubbish at English Lit. It didn't help because of the way we read it. Back then, no TV/DVD, we had a book between two people and we'd read Shakespeare by the first person reading the first 7 lines, next person reading the next 7, next, next, next... I had NO idea what was going on!

I was therefore booted out of the class :)

that's still how they were teaching it when i was at school! i can't read out loud very well, because my brain doesn't always convert the word on the page into the right word when i say it. i hated having to read out loud in front of the whole class, who then laugh in your face as it appears you have a reading age of 4.

This sounds terrible. But at least you have your head.

i did this tax year for the first time, previously have steered well clear. i have a very sophisticated investment strategy, whereby i just look at the list of funds you can buy and choose one whose name i like.

it was going fine, and then i decided to buy some shares. i won't try that again!

I stick with cash ISAs, mainly because OH is more of a risk taker, so I feel the need to balance the books.

We both had to fill in one of those questionnaires from our IFA that's designed to calculate how risk adverse you are, I wasn't sure on a lot of the questions and I'm sure some of my answers contradicted each other. Sometimes I would think, "better be more cautious here because OH is bound to take the high risk box" which sort of defeats the purpose.
