Bulb has gone above our hob but luckily we still have the spots. Did lemon and sugar with the kids and their friends today - it was almost the kids first pancakes at home but we had done a practice on Sunday without friends...I think....0

My favourite sweet pancake filling is chestnut paste...the sweet type for bread or cakes, with vanilla and sugar that has a bit of watery syrup on the top ina jar, not the heavy paste in a can. I love chestnuts. Otherwise i like crepes suzette......heavy on the booze, light on the pancake, and flaming. Mmmmmmm.0

Did anyone else watch the Brits tonight? What did you think? I think for the most part the right people won, but was a bit disappointed with James Corden as a host. I think he lacked sincerity for the tributes and wasn't "up" enough to rouse the crowd. It was nice that it wasn't a swearfest this year though. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Still no joy from the laptop? I'm not sure what impact home insurance claims have on future premiums - perhaps one for the insurance board or you could run with and without scenarios through a comparison website.
Thanks michaels. Laptop cost a bit over £400. With £250 excess I'm not sure it's worth claiming for. Currently it has been taken apart and rebuilt and is in bits again. The different parts are working but not together. It keeps turning itself off, not all the keys on the keyboard are working and neither is the built in mouse. Somehow I don't think it will be cheap. I need to work out how I write it off in my co accts as it was my business one:eek:. The big phew is that my data was at least all backed up.chewmylegoff wrote: »Oh my god I've eaten so many pancakes I can't move.

After long drawn out arrangements with dh and a thread on old style plan to practise moderation for lent. This has been quite hard to negotiate with dh, because we both feel my all or nothing approach to life is part of who i am, and who we are. However, i think it will be a really interesting experiement. I am somewhat doubtful i will make it through lent though. We have even negotiated terms for weekends, when dh often does morning critters for me, then brings me a drink in bed. Instead we will either do them together or i will get up and make breakfast for dh, the lesser chore. On the days i can't do much physically about the place i plan, instead of doing as little as possible, to do a little and then some very gentle yoga...something i have missed since the physio asked me to desist, and i have only tried a couple of feeble times since. I know it will be better for me to do somethi g, even if its not huge.
Its an odd one, especially as the fore runner two days ago was giving up carbs (other than fruits and skimmed milk).0 -

Hey gives me a nice excuse to talk about sweet memories, I while a go we did a 'tour' of Scotland, here was the basic plan:
When I say sweet memories I remember between Glasgow and Dundee we stopped at a nuclear bunker http://www.secretbunker.co.uk/

Sounds like a good plan. Do let us know how it works out for you, if you feel able to.
For lent, I am giving up staying up beyond midnight - with an exception if I have gone out with other people, but that's not likely to happen more than once over lent, so it's not a very big exception. I think a lot of things about my life would probably improve if I had the self-discipline to make sure I get a sensible amount of sleep (including but not limited to spiritual things, hence making it an appropriate lent thing, from my POV). So, if any of you catch me posting on here with a time stamp in the early hours between now and Easter, you can remind me!Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0
