Conquering Debts Once and For All...

  • I applied for and startmynew shift on 10 February. :j I have already checked out how busy the gym will be after work and looks good. DH and I had another session with our personal trainer yesterday and he confirmed our new time at the gym is a good fime to workout as it's usually quiet.

We had a lovely night with the boys on Friday. We played the Wii for a few hours and had a great time and best of all it was free.

So far the only money spent has been on the weekly shopping. Feeling pretty good about that right now. :D

I'm thinking about setting up a 'merting' with DH once a month to talk about finances. I'm the one that looks after the money and the budget. DH doesn't really have a clue. When I had to travel back to the UK in Sept I had to leave him notes about what needed doing and when and how the payment is made. Does anyone else do this?

We have a bit of a get together today for our Asperger's support group. Would love not to go as it's a beautiful day and tomorrow and Tuesday it's going to be raining. It would be great to do something outdoors with the boys.

Good to have you posting again :) gym sounds good and I agree re the meeting. OH and I need this and we plan to start them. I think in our case our girls should also be part of some of the discussions...it will be good training and of course when we get stressed about life, money etc it all affects them so I think they should be in on not the key decision making but they should hear why we come to the decisions and compromises we do...

Have a great weekend..hope you have a sunny day today :)

  • Pah, the weather is horrible. So much for spending time outdoors with all my boys. Stuck inside as it's raining and I don't want to spend money on frivolous things. :p I suggested going to watch a movie but DS's said there wasn't anything they wanted to see. Perhaps Mr BoF and me will go tomorrow night as it's cheap seats at our local cinema and I'm wanting to go see Philomena.

I was very frugal today, making home made tomato soup using this recipe and some tomatoes I had frozen last year, http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2075/tomato-soup and home made bread using this recipe, which required no kneading http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/2014/01/artisan-bread.html. Both turned out beautiful and the bread has gone although there is enough soup left for DS2.

Me and Mr BoF then headed off for a session at the gym. It was a little hard going at the start but I felt good when we'd finished.

We also took advantage of the horrible weather and had a good clearout in the bedroom, which seems to have become a bit of a storage room now that we don't have a spare room. Have a few things to put on Tr4deme (NZ's equivalent of Fleabay).

I'm not sure what's on the cards for tomorrow. Hopefully the weather is better than it has been today.

  • Surprise, surprise the weather today has been pretty grotty too. Strong winds and heavy showers. Ah well, at least we seem to be getting a little bit more blue sky this afternoon.

DS2 informed me yesterday he needed new school shoes for when they start back next week. So, we took the opportunity and bought him some new ones today. Still have all the school stationery to buy but not until we get a list of what is needed.

We then decided as it's my last day off and we haven't done that much, that we would have lunch out. Had a few games of pool as well. Spend $10 over our entertainment budget but figure it was well worth it for a few hours out of the house. Plus, we're still well under budget for the fortnight.

Our Freeview box has decided to start playing up, so might need a new one of these soon. :(

Mr BoF is making some fish burgers for dinner. We've never tried to make them before, hopefully the boys will like them.

  • It's been a full on day today. Had the call from hell this morning with a very disgruntled customer who became irate when I told him I couldn't help him as he didn't have the correct details. He ranted and raved for quite a while and I was running out of ways to get my message across to him. :(

Then I was made to feel mean that I only put $2 in for a collection for someone leaving our team on Friday. That is what our standard donation is and was decided a long time ago. The person doing the collection is a friend of the lady that is leaving and so had put in $20. I didn't say anything to her but am thinking of having a word with my manager tomorrow. Will have a think about this one.

Mr BoF and DS1 are at the cricket this evening so it's just DS2 and myself for dinner. I took chicken out of the freezer this morning but don't know what to cook and after the day I've had can't be bothered but I also don't want to spend money on a takeaway or jeopardise my healthy eating plan.

Ho hum! Just need to get over myself and get on with it.

Hey Fluffies, sorry you had a crap day. I've just checked a $ to £ conversion chart - two of your dollars is just over £1, so plenty for a work collection. We put in a standard £2 where I work and I think that's too much (given there's a collection for someone almost every week) but always go along with it. $20 is over £10!!!!! I would only spend that on family!

Don't let work stuff spoil your home time though, relax and enjoy your time with DS2 x

Thanks HN. I had a word with my manager the next day and she said she had only put in $2 as well. So I didn't feel so bad. She is going to bring it up at our next team meeting to remind people we only need to donate (a) if we want to, (b) $2 is the agreed amount and (c) if people are friends with someone, perhaps they might want to buy something for them separately.

  • I had a very challenging work out session with my personal trainer this morning. It's my last one for a while (they're quite expensive) and I was absolutely shattered at the end. Mr BoF isn't feeling too good today so skipped his session.

Then I took me and DS2 for a haircut. Had a few extra layers put it to think it out a bit. Feels a lot lighter but the length is still there.

Was hoping to get to the beach today but alas, not to be due to Mr BoF, so having a BBQ tonight instead. It's a beautiful day but tomorrow it's due to rain again!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Rub it in, why don't you :D?! It's pouring with rain here, howling winds, snow forecast for Monday, and even thinking about beaches or barbecues is at least five months away!
