Good news - DS1 starts his first part time job tomorrow. He'll be flipping burgers at a fast food restaurant.
Bad news - we had to buy him a new pair of trousers, shoes, belt and socks (all in black). Fortunately the sales are still on, so not quite as expensive as it could have been.Diary: Conquering Debts Once and For All

It's been a stonking hot day here in Hamilton. :cool2: Sorry UK folks, I'm not trying to rub your nose in. It's just been so stifling that unless you are in an air conned room it's hard to do anything.
Having said that, DH and me managed our regular Saturday morning visit to the gym (we joined about 3 months ago),:A after first dropping DS1 off at work for his first day. We managed about 1½ hours in the garden before it go too hot to do anything.
We then had a trip to the bank to sort out DS1's bank account. We had previously been signatories but as he's 17 and working we thought it about time to change it over. They grow up so quickly, don't they?
Then we headed off to buy DS1 a school bag for this year. It seems to be never ending at the moment. We recently bought him new shirts, tie and blazer as he is a senior student this year. Plus the trousers, shoes, socks and belt that we bought for him yesterday, for his new job.
Next visit was the garden centre to buy some flowers for the troughs we have on the verandah. Just to add to some colour. Fortunately our boarder works there so we can use his staff discount, which is about 25%.
Enjoyed a nice cuppa tea when we got home and then promptly fell asleep for about an hour.
BBQ for dinner followed by a cold beer, I think. :beer:Diary: Conquering Debts Once and For All

Yay,we had rain today. It was still warm but not ridiculously so, like yesterday.
It's beenapretty quiet day. Grocery shopping was the highlight of my day. Well within budger which is good.
I spent some time setting up a new online bank account today. My aim is to savesome money so I can pay off the remainder of a loan when the fixed rate runs out in December. Gives me the whole year. Hopefully that'll be long enough.
DH managed to plant all the flowers we bought yesterday in between the rain.
That's me for the night.

Quite pleased with myself today. My first NSD in at least 3 days. Hopefully tomorrow will be another.
I'm also proud that I resisted the urge to have chocolate tonight. I'm trying to lose a bit of weight.Lunch is made for tomorrow so DH and me can head off to the gym in the morning.
Just been reading a really interesting diary, that gives a different spin on this money saving lark. Some real food for thought that can be applied to different scenarios. Looking forward to reading more later.
Heading for bed nwo. Up at 5.30 -got a date with the gym.Diary: Conquering Debts Once and For All

So, another NSD day. I'd forgotten how good they make you feel.
I've been reading a new diary "Learning to think like a frugal person" and have found it very interesting so far. Might even try to get hold of the book referred to in the thread.
The book isLearning to think like a thin person but the writer is adapting the theory to also fit her money saving journey and writing about it. Makes for interesting reading so far.
As mentioned in my previous post, I'm also trying to lose a bit of weight this year, in addition to shedding the pounds (pun intended). :rotfl::rotfl: I'm trying to think about what I'm putting into my mouth and questioning, "do I need it", "am I really hungry or just bored" and trying to remind myself of what I want to lose weight. Today's been a good day so far.
My turn to cook dinner which will either be a chicken risotto or chicken fried rice.
Hope you all have a good day.

Evening all, heck that makes me sounds like a 1960's policeman! lol.
It's been a hectic day at work but it went quickly. Two more days to the weekend. We don't have anything particular planned so hopefully, weather permitting, we can get on with more work in the garden.
Mr BoF and DS1 are at the cricket today (afternoon/evening match) so it's me and DS2 for dinner tonight. Going to make some kind of chicken noodle dish.
Mr BoF, met both DS's for lunch, as DS2 needed to change a t-shirt we bought him for Christmas. I can't believe we picked up the wrong size for him.
I have just made an Ebay purchase. A considered one. I have bought the Beck Diet Solution. As mentioned yesterday I've been very interested in a another thread here on the forum where the writer is adapting the principles in this book to her money saving journey. I've been so inspired by this, that I want to read and learn the principles in the book for my weight loss journey (this is what the book is about).
So it hasn't been a NSD but the lunches were paid for out of our entertainment budget and the book was paid using some money I have in my PayPal account from selling some of my crochet.
DS2 keeps popping into play the new song he is learning on his guitar. I've never heard the song before. It's by a band called Killswitch Engage.
Will pop on later, after dinner to read some more diaries.

Keeping it short tonight as I'm tired and haven't felt too good today. Still don't, if I'm honest. I got up as usual and went to the gym but then the stomach cramps and back ache started. I managed a full day at work, thank goodness for wheat packs and paracetamol!
I haven't snacked at all, or eaten anything I shouldn't have. Instead of reaching for the chocolate tonight I've made myself a Horlicks. :A
I've also managed another NSD. :j That's 3 this week.
