Gardening Girl reported getting offered 500 mins/100 texts, no phone, free for a year (£370 credit on bill) - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=405281 - seems like the offers may be even better this month.

Damn, i phoned them last night...and couldnt get a deal anywhere as good as this one. Do you think this is new for today...has anyone else had any luck getting this one this week?0

I was offered the 'Talk and Text 600' - 500 minutes and 100 texts on a 12 month contract, with £336 credit applied directly to my account. I got a text from 3Alerts offering this saving to stay with '3' about 10 days before my contract expired (I'd already given my 30 days notice).
I think the secret is NOT to call three but to wait for them to contact you. I was actually on the 'phone asking what they could offer when the text arrived, and the guy was saying that the best he could do (and he said it was because I'd asked rather than they'd offered) amounted to a couple of deals half price for 9 months blah blah costing £200-odd. When I said that this was actually more than I'd paid for the previous year he still wouldn't budge.
Hope this helps.0 -
I too am on my 30 day notice period but got only some rubbish offers when i called to cancel. Fingers crossed that they'll call me back with something more lucrative!0

After a horrendous 12mths after being conned by TheMobileOutlet, (LGU880 12mths completely free - my ****), I rang up 3 to cancel. Seems the keener you are to take advantage of these retension deals, the less they offer you.
About a month ago my phone broke and I went into a 3 mobile shop. They offered me the same tariff (400 mins 250 texts £35pm) with a free K800i and 3 months half-price line rental. I rejected this.
My contract minimum term ends 28 Mar 2007 so I rang up 3 today to cancel claiming other networks had offered me a better deal. Initially the guy on the other end kept asking me loads of questions about my tariff and whether I was using all my mins/texts. I said i was, i wasn't goin over my allowance either, it's just too expensive for me. He then asked me EXACTLY what deals i'd been offered by other networks. I made up something about T-Mobile Flext offering 400 mins 400 texts (I hadn't been offered anything by other networks!!)
Upon this he offered me 600 mins 600 texts on an 18mth contract for £26.25pm. I liked the sound of this so I said yes - on condition it wud be 12mths. He said he could only offer it to me on 18mths. I asked if that was the best he could do and he said yes. I then went on a little rant about how rubbish 3 had been to me etc etc and i definitely wanted to cancel.
After a few seconds silence he said "let me see what i can do for you on 12mths". He eventually offered me £210 credit and free K880i on my current contract (400 mins 250 texts). Effectively I'd halved the cost of my contract! I accepted. Looks like the trick is to hold out as long as you can bear and keep reiterating you wish to cancel the contract. Wonder what I would've been offered if I'd held out a bit longer!0 -
I too have been offered a cashback deal 9 months 1/2 price rental and cashback of £210 on VTT600 making it a spend of £15 for the year with no handset. Have asked for time to think it over.Anyone been offered a handset with a similar offer recently?0
