  • Yep totally agree with all thats been said. I have really cottoned on to their 'bargains' recently. I used Mr S for the big shop then Al*i's. When I popped in on monday for a few items I picked up my usual pack of tea, usually £2.08 now £2.49! Needless to say I went elsewhere.
Also noticed over the holiday period how their stock is low -especially in items such as crisps etc.
    Back on the trains again!

  • yes i did my christmas shop there,

reason was i wasnt feeling too good so just wanted to get everything done really quickly and i knew what i wanted would be in that one shop plus we got petrol at the same time as it just on the outside of the car park,

it is a 15 mile round trip to tesco, sainsburys is about 3 mile round trip but a little bit more for a petrol station,

i spent £60ish and im sure that was quite high for what i bought,

have been going a lot more to aldi or sainsburys lately which seems to be better quality, i also have always
shopped at home bargains and b&m so looks like my shopping at tesco will be the bare minumim.

lately ive been finding that tesco isnt very good quality for money.
  • it's quite possible on occasion that we find Sainsburys cheaper cos we see what they have on offer first and buy that, and it may not be on offer elsewhere :) but generally over the year I check my shopping list on mysupermarket before I go and Sainsburys usually cheaper for us

I went to Tesco this week for Belvita breakfast stuff and Special K bites as they are half price and my teen likes to keep them in her locker/sport bag at school, I cherrypicked those offers and didnt buy anything else, usually only go if a good deal on!! but out of interest I checked price of a few items when I was in there, and several were cheaper in Sainsburys, eg

Bold 28 wash gel £7.17 at T and £7.00 at Sainsburys (tho often on £4/5 offer)

I get money off vouchers print off regularly at Sainsburys till, 60p off Marmite, £1.50 off Bold and Ariel recently.

Asda often very competitive but don't have one near by.

My experience of Mr T staff not good, moaning about the company and their job in front of queue of customers - whereas Sainsburys staff I've always found friendly and helpful, and very little staff turnover at my store so they seem happier.

Also agree the basics range at Sainsburys seems far better quality

Mr T clearly angered everyone with what we all see as a con on the price drop!

in october Asda opened up in my town, so I immediately went over to them cos i lurrvvve asda. Popped into Tesco today for the first time, for some so called offers, and they were all gone. They are again changing the store around after changing it in october in panic over asda.

I got loads of £5.00 coupons off my shopping and 10% back, so saved loads.
  • theres 3 things i love about tesco;

    1) free parking (morrisons 2 mins away from tesco does charge)

    2) dont need a pound for the trolley, local sainsburys and morrisons do and i always forget pound coins,
have recently got one of those keyring things

    3) they dont rush you at the till, i can take my time when packing and paying,
i like shopping at aldi but hate when you get to the tills and its so fast,

Our main xmas shop was with Sainsburys as had thousands of nectar points from work, Lidal as its just across the road, co-op as the reductions are fab, I went to Tesco on xmas eve as they had a 90% reduction on food. The only other time I go to Tesco is if there is a glitch or a DTD glitch, other than that they are too expensive. They increase prices in there so called fake promotions which :mad: me off and the till hags seem to have been dragged of the set of Jerrermy Kyle in my store.
It made me smile when I read in the news that they made a loss over xmas.

I bought all the Tesco offers at Asda and got 10% off plus the £5. The only thing I spent at Tescos was my Clubcard vouchers, which this year will be nowhere near the same amount! 12,850 points, now you only get 0.5 point/£ on petrol and just one point/£ on shopping!!! The only worrying thing both Asda and Tesco are run by Mr Clarke.
I think by Christmas 2012 Morrisons will be the leader???
