  • Seems a few of people losing a bit of their motivation and that's something I do know something about - if you look back at my threads I'm being great one day and next day not so great. Unfortunately no happy medium for me - either totally committed or falling off with a big thump!

What has really helped me this time has been reading the threads so iceicebaby and keatergreyhound suggest that may help. I now view it as a slower long term weight loss - I've not lost as much (or anything!) some weeks because of my ups and downs, but what is important to me is that I am still a stone lighter than I was before Christmas, and I haven't given up completely.

If you're not losing but still sticking to your plan, I'm no expert (apart from having been successful in the past and found a formula that sort of works for me) but changing things often helps - gives your body a kickstart. Either try something like adding a bit more exercise (walk round the block a couple of days a week now the weather is getting better) or cycling with the kids - something that fits in with your lifestyle and you feel comfortable with.

Perhaps you could give yourself a bit more variety - change breakfast if you always have the same, or have a week eating a bit less carbohydrate. Anything to give you a bit of a change and maybe give your metabolism a boost.

Sure someone with more expertise will be along but hope this helps.
Proud to be dealing with my debts
  • I have had a good week and then went out last night and spoilt it again! Had a lovely 3 course italian meal and enjoyed every mouthful. I just hope it hasn't thrown my diet into turmoil. My clothes fit better even though the weight hasn't been coming off this past week or so. I am back on track again - healthy eating for me (till the next time!!)

kicks and hugs for those who need them xx

Keep up the good work guys - together we can do it! This thread is so inspirational - come on Suggs -we're waiting for your epic tale!

Take care all and happy (healthy) eating!!

    bbxx

Icebaby and KG........I am not an expert either but I agree with variation in the diet, change from this to that and see if that kicks it back in again, plus lots of water and loads of different excercise....

Make a food diary and write down what exactly you eat in a day as you eat it so you can look back and see what has been eaten and drink also....

We all have bad days.... I find weekends exceedingly hard as I have too much time on my hands (like the OP said about being bored at work and eating) so I make sure I have a plan and go out with the kids, keep constantly active and moving, that is my coping mechanism....find your own and you know what to fall back on when you know you are in the danger cheating, giving up zone.

Also TOTM is difficult for me, I feel ravenous (could easily chew raw that lamb that was going to be slaughtered!!) but I have writen everything down or make a mental note and see and act on the danger moments.

At work like the OP said take cucumber slices, pepper strips, celery sticks with a low fat dip (like Gillian says) and munch on those when the boredome or lack of inclination to carry on gets you down.

Look forward to the next food, plan the menu for the week and do not deviate so you know what you are going to have (lessens the time in the kitchen, the guess work and the need to cheat)

I have my veg in the saucepans ready to go as early as 8am if I am going to work so when I get in I can see that is what I am having and can look forward to that and know what to eat.

Get rid of anything that is bad from the kitchen cupboards....I have 2 kids and they now love sugar free jelly, ryvita muti grain, crackers and have no interest in crisps, love the apples and the fruit, strawberries, they are loving it :D

When I finally feel I have covered everything and am still despairing I go out for a walk, clean the house, have a long bath, eat cucumber slices and pepper strips, ring someone up, look at my latest Boots weight and how my BMI and weight is coming down and how the clothes fit (try some on and feel good in them) how I am going to get a hair cut as a reward, what my family will say that I have not seen for the last 5 months, etc, be positive with yourself and treat yourself as your best friend.

Your best friend would offer encouragement, be right behind you, trying to find ways of helping you and making it a happier experience for you.... your best friend only ever wants the very best for you.....

I hope all that helps you both.........BE YOUR BEST FRIEND:D

    Hi All

I have not been on this thread for about a year which ties up with when I started to put weight on again, bad habits came back quickly and sadly I undid all the good I had done. I now feel doomed to be a failure before I start and have never been at such a low ebb over my weight. I have a BMI which is nearly double what it should be!!
I saw a programme last night about ediets and the tesco one was mentioned and I wondered if anyone on here was following that? It said that you can type in your food preferences - is that really true? I find losing weight hard because a lot of receipes include tomatoes, peppers, olives, pulses, beans etc can you be that specific on the tesco site? It would be my dream come true if a site like that could be so individually specific and I could have receipes that exclude all my dislikes. I would willingly spend that money. To be honest and probably a bit dramatic I think about my death everyday but I seem to have learnt to live with the fear.

Thank you thriftykatie and victory. yes I suppose boredom has crept in. I am due to go shopping later so I am going to plan what i am going to eat each day and make sure i have got different foods in to what i have been eating and try that. Will also try the suggestion about walking. Ill take a walk round the block in my lunch time in work instead of sitting on me backside in the canteen.

    Thanks both xx
