    Hi Peeps :D

First of all a big welcome to all the newbies, I couldn't believe how many there were of you, but I hope you all stay with us so that we can help each other to reach the desired goal. We are a diverse, but friendly bunch, with an eclectic way of attaining the same result; I hope to get to know you all better over the coming weeks :)

I'm afraid my positive thinking went a bit awry yesterday afternoon, not in the slimming sense I'm glad to say, that's still going strong, but in my inability to do something that should be basic common sense......I read through the posts yesterday and thought that some of them were very motivating and decided to them copy to a file for future reading should my willpower ever take a knock. One thing lead to another and I found myself at a link to the LW6 thread where I found a moving image of a biting boot* - (I bet some of you can remember it as familiar names were there!) - and thought that this would be great to revive for whenever anyone of us asks for a kick up the backside to keep us on the straight and narrow. I copied it to my computer and started to post most of the above blurb and then tried to show the image, but despite managing to show it working in my reply box, as soon as I did a 'preview post' , it showed up as a link to my file  (I did allude to this in passing last week and thought that I'd worked out where I was going wrong, but sadly not). I sat for nearly two hours trying to sort out what I was missing and by then I was very nearly  , so I decided to just post my musings, pressed the wrong button, lost the lot and lost my    big time. I'm ashamed to say that I sulked all evening ( :rotfl: how mature!!) I was still ars*y with myself this morning, so after getting all my chores done I sent myself to the naughty chair 'to reflect on my behaviour' :o .....

....So, can one of you clever people please let me know how it's done? I promise not to get as hyper as I did last week if I ever manage to do it. To further add to my shame I admit that I have searched the MSE forums and other sites, followed various pieces of advice but keep falling at the last hurdle. If you find it easier to PM me rather than use up valuable LW space please do.

    xxxx

Edit * Just checked and the boot is at the start of LW8

  • Yes, I second the welcome to the new members, good luck to one and all.

Petrichor -I hope me asking for a kick up the bum wasn't to blame for you having trouble with your computer!!! It sounds good though so let me know if you find it (or just what post no. it was) I still need a kick and maybe a prod or two.
If you don't have something nice to say don't bother saying anything at all.

I know that very boot that you mean

I think I need it too - I've been grazing all week. I've been off work until today, I definately need to be at work to keep me out of the cupboards, that said, DH was meant to go shopping and still hasnt gone so the cupboards are very bare. I need to really stick to it all weekend now to compensate for the damage.

How rude of me, Welcome to all the new members  Too many to mention (and remember all!) - this thread has been busy today!

Hi all and welcome hugs to all the newbies, KateW, Trikerbiker, JaneyM, Npsmama and Stilernin and welcome back to Slowlyfading.

Kate I haven't heard the motto 'motivation is everything, willpower nothing', but I like the saying we have in our SW class,"will-power not necessary, we have choice-power". It simply means that you don't need the willpower when you have such a huge choice of foods to eat and nothing is banned.

Janey don't think about the fact you have several stone to lose, just think about the next 7lbs. It's a much easier target to attain and so you will always feel like a success.
It seems that you may have got into a bit of a rut and that's why your weight is sticking. Try to vary the food that you eat, perhaps having more one day than you're allowed and a little less the next day. Hopefully this will fool your body and get things moving again. Also don't forget to drink your 2 litres of water each day (I really do think it helps).

Juliejim, you did a brilliant job of explaining the points raised by npsmama, and I'm sure there's not much I can add. The reason any food is listed (or not) in the SW books is down to it's health-giving properties and the satisfaction value (for example, wholemeal bread has lots of fibre and is therefore more healthy and filling than white bread).

Petrichor I'm very impressed that you even managed to get the boot piccy up, I've tried all sorts of ways and can't do it at all. It was an excellent picture that could do with reviving, though not at the original size - it was huge :rotfl:
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Hi, I havent posted for a while mainly because I hadnt lost any weight which was really disappointing. Trying to stop` nibbling` which is my downfall- my worst time seems to be between 5.30 and 7.00 when I realised I virtually had another meal!( even if was low fat goodies!)

Back on track now but need to get below 10 stone 8 as I am only 5` 3" and it would be great.

Welcome to all the newbies too and thanks for inspiring me again!

Hi Petrichor - you need to use Photobucket or a similar website where you can upload your pictures. I use it for the weekly update, and I've got a couple of pictures stored there as well, like this one:

I haven't heard the motto 'motivation is everything, willpower nothing'

Hi Connie - it's from the Little Book of Slimming, by Margaret Miles Bramwell (is that her name..?) :D

thanks Lois. By the way, what's the 'motivation is everything, willpower nothing' motto? Does it mean setting yourself goals that inspire you? but how do you then stick to it without willpower? Or having treats to reward yourself for achieving your goals?

    Hmm...need to think this through!

Hi Kate - the way I read it is that you can have all the willpower in the world, but you need to be motivated to get what you want.
