I have finally had my formal offer through today and I nearly cried on the phone to the lady due to the location!!! I know I should be happy as it's a job with which many, many people would over the moon with. The location I have been given is one that I specifically said I could not get to, so its obvious the perference forms were a waste of time, I swear locations are picked out of a hat. When I said I couldn't get there it was pretty much tough, if you dont take this your back at the bottom of the list.
I will be crying into my cider all over the Jubilee Weekend and have to think long and hard about accepting!
Enough being miserable, I'm off to the pub, enjoy the weekend all!!
I am in the same boat as you ...after waiting all this time I finally got 'the call' late Friday afternoon offering me a location 65 miles away! I applied to North Scotland and ticked all boxes for locations in Tayside region but the lady who called explained that there were no job allocations for Tayside, despite them being advertised and that she could only offer Grampian or Highland. (This could explain why a lot of you are being offered locations you did not tick - prob no jobs were allocated to those locations)
I have had to accept the job in Grampian region and am now facing a 1.5 hour commute each way on the train at a cost of £340 per month as well as a child to somehow get to school and back where I live.
I'm so disappointed and feeling very anxious about the travelling instead of excited about starting a new job.
On a positive note though at least it is a good job and I will give it my best shot.0 -

I was in the same position but decided no matter where they offered I would have to take the job, I didn't get anything on my list and was offered off the list I couldn't go to. But I just keep remembering it's not forever. One day my transfer back to my home town will be excepted and I won't have to travel 4 hours a day.
And good luck to all those who are starting their new job tomorrow! I have one week left to nervously chew my fingernails0 -
I know I am being a dunce but could anyone enlighten me about the references. Do I just insert details of my current employer and personal referee??? It seems like I should insert my previous employer as well as both current employer and personal referee from the instructions...0

I see members of the PCS Union in Merseyside JCPs are on strike for the rest of the week due to a planned reduction in their numbers.
So I'm assuming no one has been taken-on in Merseyside? Or would that make too much sense for the DWP?0 -

There was an internal campaign for Merseyside, someone from my current office is starting in a Merseyside office next week. I would love to be given a Merseyside office, but didn't get an interview on that campaign (despite submitting identical applications to the area I eventually got).0 -
Anyone heard anything about start dates for Glasgow, Lanarkshire and East Dunbartonshire yet?0

I got a reply to my email chasing up Durham & Tees Valley. The reply stated that they are sorry but they have no news yet due to the high number of applicants, and that they will contact me regarding location etc in due course. So the waiting continues!0

Just got the call from the Cov/Warks and now Black Country district. There were 3 jobcentre's that I'd be delighted to accept. My number one choice (home town 10 mins walk from my house) can apparently fit no more staff in sadly so that was a no. However I got my 2nd pick, only 10 mins on the train! I declined the coventry/worcs region so that should free up a space for someone.
Start date 9th July. Good luck all0
