Got email saying waiting list had closed, that's it then, we'll done to all who got jobs, even the dreadful ones.
Thankfully got a job with the home office so all isn't lost0 -
Well, I got my "waiting list expired" e-mail, but seeing as I now have a job teaching people who are unemployed / work program qualifications, I guess I get to share my empathy with the unemployed. It is a job I enjoy and feel as though I am helping people get real qualifications, though it does frustrate me that the DWP still seem to think that having a L2 qualification, regardless of you being E3 or L5 will solve all your problems!0

Hi - Got my waiting list expired notice. Cannot say that I was surprised. The Band D`s in the jobcentre where I worked as a FTA Band B seemed to know back in April, that there were not going to be any vacancies. Very best of luck to those that secured postings. I will take this opportunity though, to point out that in 2.5 years of working at Jobcentre Plus, this selection exercise, probably pips all the other shambolic ventures that I have experienced working at this circus. I say circus, because it is run by clowns. I am only speaking from my own experience, but I have never known so many `SENIOR` managers (Band E & Band D) have so many meetings, over such a short period of time, and achieve absolutely `NOTHING`
Do you think that the private sector would have said `Yes, there are 50 vacancies in this area - No, we were wrong, we now need 75 - Hold it! - We had forgotten about all those `SURPLUS` staff - Now, we have no vacancies, but never mind, us managers that were interviewing on Saturdays (Premium Rate) did very well thank you very much. Great job! I did Band B for 2.5 years & worked on FJR, DASO & Compliance and loved every minute. I then passed this Band C exercise for a `Permanent` job, that never was. They need to start the clean out from TOP to BOTTOM, and not the other way round. That is the reason, that you get so many `Wacky Races` ideas. Straight out of University, Fast Tracked into Management, not a bloody clue how people work. As ever, the front line picks up the tab & abuse from the public. Lot of great people in the Civil service, unfortunately, a lot of rubbish also. If you doubt anything that I say - then I will suggest to you, visit the PCS website (DWP Union) and verify for yourself, what a lying, corrupt organization this is, and they have the cheek to check employees criminal records before they join. I could go on, but I am bound by the Official Secrets Act.
Sympathies to all those who, tried, succeeded, but failed, due to the total incompetence of this corrupt outfit!!!0 -

I received an email from HMRC two months ago which said:
"We are very pleased to let you know that you reached the required standard in the interview and your application is therefore successful. Congratulations"
"As we are finalising the recruitment plans for each location I apologise that your application is on hold. I will contact you as soon as possible with an update on your application."
It also went on to say that my status has temporarily been changed to 'Reserve List' to allow me to see my feedback but that I am not actually on reserve.
Has this happened to anybody else? How long can I expect to wait? The job I applied to is temporary position which ends in March and there are five weeks of training beforehand but we're already nearly in January now, so I don't know what to think.0 -
Been in my role for over a month now. In my region Hants/IOW we were told 50 being made permanent but that figure was eventually revised down to 30 and the rest were FTA's. the office I'm in now cannot take on permanent staff so has had to take on FTA's. Reason being that in other offices they are over subscribed, the worse culprits in the Jobcentre are the dinosaurs that go part time when they should retire. They are in effect classed as full time due to pension and wages costing full time wages. They should be pensioned off as that's all they care about and allow the new breed of adviser to move in! Also another problem is TDA's being on a contract for a fixed length of time being taken on when there are FTA's recruited. I thought the recruitment excercise was for those that deserved it??? I could go on n on but I'm tired. Merry Xmas0

Not the best news for you I agree, BUT at least you have a job and you can put it down on your CV for any future jobs you apply for.

It's FT for economic reasons, it can go beyond March and also keep extending, even can lead to permanent position- all depends on luck.
Wish u good luck :A0
