But I HAVE worked in the Civil before - in quite a few depts, in fact - so I AM suited to the work. It is just that when I applied, they didn't have these timed situational tests, just the 1-4 competency based answer forms.

They are not tough if you are suited to the type of work they are testing for - that's the whole point of them!

No, you were suited to the work. Perhaps the ethos of the recruiting depts is different, or your apparent overconfidence as to your suitability comes through?
  • Oh, and the starting wage has increased. Only by a bit, but it all counts! Yay!

I have been in the CS that long, that when I started working in London in the late 1980`s (having done a Norman Tebbit - got on my bike & looked for work), that I was promised to get to the top of my payscale in 3 years.

This I achieved and have been on the max for 20 + years now !

No contract yet, but I've only been in post a month or so. I was led to believe that it could be upto 8weeks.

Started in June so 8 weeks is long passed. Not overly worried; they're paying me so obviously it's just a hold up:-) hope you're enjoying it!
