DWP Recruiting Again - 2012

  • I'm still waiting (nervously) for any news. I have had no feedback as of yet.

However, I'm taking rumours of the process with a pinch of salt at the moment. If scores are the basis for the initial sift, shouldn't applicants below the cut-off threshold have been rejected already? It's a computerized exercise, so it shouldn't be too time consuming just to "bin" lower-scoring applications.

Having said that, maybe I'm talking guff. Have a friend who scored around the 70th percentile I'd like to see do well. Ah well, good luck to everyone. x

No because they need to select x candidates for interview so if the higher percentile passes fail to write sufficient competency examples then they will then consider lower passmark candidates.

This is why although most if not all districts have chosen a pass/fail mark they are likely not to send out unsuccessful emails until the sift has been completed.

Ah, that makes sense. I just know someone who got a low score who has been rejected already, and another with a low score who was an EO previously and hasn't been (in the same district). Confuzzled, don't mind me. :)

HI, Does anyone know the figures for the North West ( Manchester east and west districts) exercise? ie how many applications, what percentile they will be using for sift, and how many eo's they will be recruiting externally?

Have patience Padawan! All will be revealed in due course

The DWP recruiting again? Wow, this is excellent news amid the current gloom and doom!

So has the recruitment freeze been partially lifted then? Are there vacancies in the North West? I passed my AO board two years ago, just before the recruitment freeze kicked in (very unlucky!).

I went to the Civil Service link you gave, but there are a whole lot of drop-down options. If I filter it down to just Admin/Corporate Support, will I get all the DWP vacancies?

Thanks for that good news. I was wondering when we were going to get some after months and months of recruitment freeze misery!

It was going to be a matter of time but new vacancies are up nationwide for you lovely people looking to work for the DWP (in Jobcentres no less) and they're on permanent contracts which is a big plus in this current climate of casual, temporary and fixed-term uncertainty.

    If you're interested in applying:

    https://jobs.civilservice.gov.uk/company/nghr/jobs.cgi

Sort the department by Department of Work and Pensions and you'll find the relevant processes from there on. Closing date's on the 22nd of this month.

    Good luck!

On a side-note, I find it quite frustrating that most (not all according to thunderbolt) fixed-term appointees were not kept on to deal with whatever the government needs help with now (probably the relabelled New Deal policies). All those hours FTAs spent in training sessions, inductions, making good contacts with provider etc. It seems like history keeps repeating itself for the DWP regardless of whoever's in charge.

The EO positions have all closed now. I think they may recruit for AO in the near future?

To save you having to keep looking, if you register on the Civil Service website you can set up job alerts so that you are notified by email when a matching job is advertised - so for instance you could set up an alert for DWP and AO in this case.
  • just heard from a manager that if you applied for more than one district you will be considered for the other ones in order of application e.g if you applied for Bham and solihull first and completed the test and then subsequently applied for black country, then staffs, worcestershire your application will fisrt be considered for bham solihull

the reason they are doing this is because they want to spread out the interviews, the interview panel for bham have a meeting in the next couple of days to re-deceide on the pass mark and they will start there sift on the 11/02/2012
  • Internal applicants have started to receive feedback on their applications.

I know of several who applied to an internal only vacancy and have subsequently booked interviews.

It's worth noting that emails don't seem to be sent - Keep checking your CS Jobs account is my advice!

I think you've killed this forum with your earlier honest but blunt statement about anything below 80% .... You've got your work cut out lol
