  • I'm south east wales (internal) and I haven't heard anything yet. Had a provisional offer on a score of 39.

Well hopefully HalloweenJack you'll hear soon. A few of my friends from Penarth and Alex House have heard already, some are still waiting but district are making the calls today so keep an ear out for your phone ringing!!! It was Newport you were hoping for wasn't it? A friend of mine ticked Cardiff and Newport and got given Newport, i think her score was lower than yours so maybe that's a good sign for you? I guess it depends where else you ticked?
I'm still keeping my fingers crossed I get one of the Cardiff offices, they're the only ones I ticked so I'll be gutted if they put me anywhere else but I'll probably still accept it in the hope I can transfer at a later date. Maybe you'll get Cardiff, I'll get Newport and we can swap!!! :-)

I've finally decided to stop stalking and post a reply. I can't promise any pearls of wisdom just a heartfelt thanks for unknowingly helping me cope since I found this forum!

I am an external candidate, only applied for one district, SE Wales and have been offered a provisional post on 39 points. My preference is for Cardiff, will stretch to deepest darkest Caerphilly and maybe Barry and Penarth with a gentle nudge. I'm hoping to get Cardiff as currently I am able to bypass Cardiff bus and walk to work and the thought of paying them any money makes me a tad queasy!!!!

I have pretty much just let this whole process happen, as an external candidate I had no clue as to how it would work and on the whole it's not been too bad, well apart from the excruciating 7 week wait from interview to provisional offer! They do say patience is a virtue and I think that's been well and truly tested during this process.

Anyway, just wanted to add my congratulations to everyone who received an offer in whichever part of our beautiful Isle you may be and fingers crossed to those on the waiting lists xx

Hi MissK36, there are a few of us on here from SE Wales, did you tick all of those places on your location form? I only ticked Cardiff, I'm hoping if they don't pay any attention to Cardiff then they at least try to keep me as near as possible to it.

Can you imagine, first day of work we'll all be trying to suss out whether any of the other new starters are from MSE!

Maybe we should all wear post-it notes with out screen names written on them? :p

That would be a good idea, especially if we don't explain why!

    Hi athenajm,

Yeah I ticked those four areas but only those four as some were way too far me, so I can't really complain if I get placed in any one of them really. In reality I think your right, they probably won't pay that much attention to what anyone put as their preferred area, it could all be done with Bingo balls lol!!

Post it notes or a subtly placed red carnation would be a great idea!

Now you have me thinking, how about 'the click of the mouse is never far away'?

Can you tell it's a slow day in work, and it's only going to get worse until all the checks are done, passed and (if all is well) I can hand my manager a nice envelope containing a little letter called - MY NOTICE

I am feeling the same! I love my colleagues but my actual job is doing my head in now and I just want to go. I never have much to do, which was good at first but now I just get bored (or lurk on here!!). I can't even start a count down because I don't know how long it will take.
On a positive note, as I don't have a contract therefore nothing about notice, I THINK I only need to give one weeks' notice so when I do get a date, I can just go!
