A lot of the current work force is aging and set in it's ways but the feeling is that this is about to change and the new intake of staff at both EO and AO will be used to shake things up. What I'm trying to say is that it's impossible to tell really is you'll get what you're looking for here as it will be subject to change in so many ways in the next year or so.
A quick question for everyone who's been lucky to get a job offer, or even a reserve list offer - how many of you are aged 40+?0 -

Erm, I belong in that group, sadly!
However, I think the message is more about the length of time some staff could potentially have been in the job for, set in their ways, begrudging change etc
At least, that was my experience when I was a FTA.
I thiink that new staff, regardless of their age, will be more varied in their experiences and ready for the challenge.
In other news.... I have just received a letter from Shared Services, telling me that I requested that the CRB came to me and could I forward it on when it arrives. I absolutely, definitely ticked the box for it to go straight to them.0 -

I was thinking of asking the question before I saw that post.
Are you already a CS employee?0 -

Not now, no.
I did 2 years as EO at JCP and my contract was not renewed last June. They let so many go, then 4 months later (so I hear on the grapevine) they had put together a business plan to recruit - again!0 -
I have just had a text message requesting me to call a particular person regarding the EO position I have applied to in my least favoured district... I have been offered positions in 2 districts and I am concerned if I call I may have to commit and will then lose out on the place in my home district...
I'm really uncertain as to what to do..
I know to those who have not had an offer this may seem a rather enviable position to be in, however it really depends on the office I'm offered in my home district as to whether I would consider another district.
Anybody else in a similar position or know what the call may be about?0 -

I am in my late 50's! But I do only look 25 - I wish!
Bit of interesting feedback acquired today - when I signed on I discussed my job offer with my advisor. When he was appointed he started in post several months before any of his references were ever approached! I have no reason to disbelieve him, as unbelievable as it is!0 -

That's a toughie. You'll have to ring back, it could be about anything. If it's about which office you would be willing to work in, choose as if it's the only offer (otherwise as mentioned on the forum) you may miss out entirely - and then hope you get a similar call from your home district, at which point you can withdraw from the other district.
Until you get a formal offer, you have no job in either district yet.0 -

I'd bite the bullet and phone otherwise you'll just wind yourself up.
If it helps a couple of us have had a calls but nothing to do with placements. My OH was called just to confirm he wanted full-time hours!! (OH ticked both boxes)

Jane, do it, what is the worst that could happen - you get offered a job !!!
Chances are it is simply for placements. I have had a phone call and an email from two districts for that reason, one an offer, the other the reserve list.
'Fortune favours the brave' but fortune favours the prepared mind even more so.
Let us know how you fare, if it is alright.
PS: The help line pretty much knows who most of us are, I was picked in an instant. Nothing to worry about though, they are pretty sporting about this blog, just business as usual.0 -
I called and spoke to a lovely lady who wanted to know my preferred district and office... We had a good chat and I did advise her that it would depend on what office I was offered in my home district as to whether I would consider her district. Very understanding about the whole thing... She advised me that formal offers probably wouldn't go out until around the end of May..
It seems as though the districts have been given their merit lists and are going through them from the top to guage which offices people wish to work in. At least it still gives us hope that things are moving slowly.0
