I think we're in for a long ish wait. A friend of mine had a CRB check done couple of months ago and that took 3 weeks!

No one really seems to know if the references are done by contacting the person(s) in question or if they do it via HRMC.

I am sure this thread will pick up again mid May :)

I had an email from ESSR to advise that all the required information had been obtained from HRMC and was satisfactory, so no further information was required (I was querying if they needed my current employer details as I only gave previous + personal ref due to there only being space for two). I've spoken to my personal referee and they were not contacted.

I don't think the CRB will take that long - at least I hope not. The current turnaround for the basic check is 14 days. That being the case, I should receive mine by the end of this week, or next Tuesday at the latest (Monday being a bh). I had a letter from Employee Services asking me to send my CRB in to them as soon as I receive it to avoid delaying my application...so I'm getting ants in my pants now and watching the post constantly!!!

Congrats to all those who received offers. Well done after a very long process!!

I was placed on the waiting lists for North and East London (scored 35).

Emailed ESSR last monday requesting my position on the lists, but no response as of yet.

    would be nice to know!

Even when they do reply you may find that you are none the wiser. For BC I don't know if I am 65th or 99th. Also, this may now have changed - weren't people given 5 days to accept their offer/s? If this has 'expired' then people will move up the list. ;)

I am still following this forum, I'll keep everyone posted with regards to any location info, role info or any other general info about the posts as and when I hear anything. Good luck to all those waiting.

Can I just check whether existing Civil servants have all complete the "Next Step" section. I know one of you said you did it anyway but are there are any CS (like me) who have followed the email and not completed any reference details. I have not had any acknowledgement of my email accepting their offer. I tried to call them at 5:00 and a message said, "they are temporarily unavailable to take calls" even though they are meant to be open until 5:30 Mon-Thurs & 5:00 on Fridays. I am beginning to think whether I should have (or still should do) completed the "next steps". I am hoping to get news about which office in B&S I'll get. Also, I want part time hours & wonder when they would clarify this as so far there has been hardly any opportunity to mention this.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this forum in a positve way. :T

No contribution is trivial as long as it was intended to provide support and/or information and not to demotivate or belittle anyone.

    Hi tosh

Im also a civil servant and i didnt complete the next stage although im sure when ive logged in cs website my status has changedtoday from provisional offer email to congratulations on accepting provisional offer (summat like that) stating they will contact me in due course but still asking me to complete the next stage so god knows if they want me to complete it or not, I so hope we hear soon too

Thanks for that Sara_SkiBunny. I too hope it will be quicker then 3 weeks. I thought the turn around time might go up because of the amount of people they need CRB checks for.

    Hope you hear soon x

Well, we're now 5 working days into the 20 (if you accepted last Monday, that is), so, we're 1/4 of the way through this stage, yes?

    Woop :D

Not sure what I said or wrote to be addressed as "Tosh". I could have chosen "tosh" as my id here if I wanted to be addressed as one.

My status has not changed from "provisional offer". Has anyone else noticed a change in status from provisional offer to "comgratualtions on accepting offer"?????

Think she was referring to the poster afetr you ;)

And no. Mine still says provisional offer.

Also, am a CS who has NOT completed the next steps, but have definitely e-mailed the workforce management gaffer from B&S after he e-mailed me to check work patters. Dennis. Nice chap :)

Full marks for observation there.....I got confused!!! coz Sherilou used my quotes and wrote "hi tosh". Thanks for clarifying ...hehe

Its a relief to know you also did not complete next steps. Please keep me posted if you hear anything from B&S. I have not heard anything from B&S since sending email accepting provisional offer.

    Hi,
    Didyouseethat
Just a quick question, I also work at JCP, I started as FTA and have recently been fortunate to have just been made permanent ( after almost 3 years on a 18 month contract!)
[A lot of the current work force is aging and set in it's ways but the feeling is that this is about to change and the new intake of staff at both EO and AO will be used to shake things up.

Total agreement about the aging workforce and also how they are set in their ways, but have you been officially told there will be a AO recruitment? We have had 2 FTAs made permanent and have been told we have some temp staff for 10 weeks in the summer. I am really hoping that there will be AO recruitment as I lost a lot of good colleagues when the mass cull happened last summer.

    Officially? No

    Unofficially? Yes

    Watch this space. ;)
  • I'm hoping that if AO jobs become available that we will be contacted as my reserve list notice says 'we will contact you if any similar jobs become available" whether that happens or they expect us to apply all over again though, who knows! I'm praying that I won't have to go through this almost 4 and a half month process again!
