I have been following this thread for a long time, we started our journey together. Kind people on this forum kept me going and I felt , I was not alone. This whole recruitmen excercise affected my stress level drastically. I am sure everyone here needs a job so we applied for it. Then there came trolls and people who want nothing but ' misery' for others.
Makem has been a great support, sammy, avocado, vindallu, Karin, gaurgantun, Poker, and many others. Makem has been strong character even at the face of some "miserable coward person" tried to discourage him. But he showed what he got, a strong personality. If we got an offer or not, we tried it and and even if you reach to the end of the tunnel or not but how you been in this journey is what is important. Even animal can fight of and find a bread, what makes a human different from animal? Character and kindness.
Life is a constant struggle and hope, my friend who did not got a job with dwp in 2009 is now working with rbs , in a better capacity, while the other one who got job with dwp is suffering back aches and stressed at work. So it's all relative. Because this is not she wanted to do. So it's all butterfly effect.
To those who tried but did not get to the interview stage , or those who got rejection, waiting or offers. We all have been victim of this time consuming , stressful exercise. And many of us will regardless of if they joing dwp or not, will float like a cream in different professions , different organisations, its just matter of time.
To the trolls : the more misery you give to others the more misery you will get. Karma will get you, you might be in a very bad situation if you don't try to rise above it through hope ,hardwork and positivity then no one is responsible for your misery but you.
I know you want to show anger and rejection toward other people, you are in a lowest point of your life but this is not the right way to come out of it. it will revert back to you and u will get further s..t . It's never too late to change your attitude and be help to those who are less fortunate than you. Why don't you volunteer, give your time to those in need and see the difference yourself.
Nice to be remembered Livilove, thank youYou made me smile

I think they are just taking the !!!! now. I do not really think they care much anymore, and are not bothering to really look into things. I sent one Monday morning, as of now, no reply. Poor, really poor.0 -

I emailed them every day this week so I guess they got the message and had to reply just to stop me emailing!
I have an awful feeling that somebody at the other end is just emailing out random numbers for a laugh0 -

I know there are flaws in this system but........really???
I wouldn't be surprised if when calling a candidate from the reserve list to offer them a position & say they were unable to get an answer they would probably march straight on to the next one and so on????? How would we ever know?? I just can't understand why they have such huge reserve lists???0 -
DragonChild wrote: »Right campers, I just got off the recruitment helpline and managed to get some important information that will apply to some if not many of us. Some is good news, some not so good I am sorry to say.
Firstly, the helpline can not give out placement orders as they simply do not have access to that information. That is easy.
Second, they are not authorised to give out the information in regards to numbers being offered in the regions. Not their fault, they simply are not allowed. You HAVE to send an email to find out.
Third, and this is not good. MOST numbers in the regions have been filled by surplus internal staff. That is why the regional numbers have been cut so dramatically in many areas, and so many of us externals have missed out in various areas. This is not very good, as only a percentage of surplus were meant to be re-deployed, but alas, the decision has been made, unfortunately, we are lumped with that. I would imagine that is those already on the EO grade.
Fourth, the customer service operater was very adamant on this. The proposed START dates are likely to be late May to early June. I stated 'that soon', and he was amused that I was the first person to look at it that way (I will have to travel over the other side of the country - west to east to relocate).
Fifth, the checks they do are required to be done in 20 days, maximum. This IS the period they have to conduct the checks, and the time starts when the regions submitted their paperwork and lists to recruiting for action. So yes, the checks are in full swing.
Sixth, it is 'unlikely' that the existing number of provisional offers made are going to change, and he was of the opinion these numbers will be the final numbers (whatever they are if you know).
Obviously, that is just the information I have been given, and perhaps others can confirm that this is what they have been told also.
Good luck to all.
I'm relocating too, so worried about timings re. Notice period and start date... Got to find somewhere to live etc!
But i Just can't see how with 20 working days for checks etc, and a 4 week notice - start dates are May/early June....
I don't doubt you were told what you say... It just doesn't seem reasonable. Not that I want it to take longer mind you!0 -
What e-mail address do I need to possibly find out where abouts I am on the waiting list? Thanks!
. Xxx

Jess,
Well done on your offer. I’m absolutely delighted for you.
Judging by the information posted by Dragon Child, I'd suggest that only a few applicants will be lucky enough to be picked up from reserve lists and they will mainly be in the areas where so many people have multiple applications.
Some locations lie very close to lots of the regions such as in the midlands so there are a lot of spare offers there with some people having been made three + offers. Other areas such as Devon and Cornwall, who only have very limited opportunities from multiple applicants will find their reserve list barely dented. That same scenario of course also applies to my area in the North East region which really only attaches to its Durham and Tees Valley neighbour, where job offers are just as scarce.
I contacted ESSR on Monday asking for my reserve list position but am yet to hear from them. In reality I’m not bothered if I don’t get a reply as I don’t have the slightest expectation that there will be much movement at all up here and am resigned to that fact.
I will now look for some other opportunities within my own and other departments, or may even contemplate part retirement, while I still have a Civil Service pension worth taking J.0
