I have been following this thread for a long time, we started our journey together. Kind people on this forum kept me going and I felt , I was not alone. This whole recruitmen excercise affected my stress level drastically. I am sure everyone here needs a job so we applied for it. Then there came trolls and people who want nothing but ' misery' for others.
Makem has been a great support, sammy, avocado, vindallu, Karin, gaurgantun, Poker, and many others. Makem has been strong character even at the face of some "miserable coward person" tried to discourage him. But he showed what he got, a strong personality. If we got an offer or not, we tried it and and even if you reach to the end of the tunnel or not but how you been in this journey is what is important. Even animal can fight of and find a bread, what makes a human different from animal? Character and kindness.
Life is a constant struggle and hope, my friend who did not got a job with dwp in 2009 is now working with rbs , in a better capacity, while the other one who got job with dwp is suffering back aches and stressed at work. So it's all relative. Because this is not she wanted to do. So it's all butterfly effect.
To those who tried but did not get to the interview stage , or those who got rejection, waiting or offers. We all have been victim of this time consuming , stressful exercise. And many of us will regardless of if they joing dwp or not, will float like a cream in different professions , different organisations, its just matter of time.

To the trolls : the more misery you give to others the more misery you will get. Karma will get you, you might be in a very bad situation if you don't try to rise above it through hope ,hardwork and positivity then no one is responsible for your misery but you.
I know you want to show anger and rejection toward other people, you are in a lowest point of your life but this is not the right way to come out of it. it will revert back to you and u will get further s..t . It's never too late to change your attitude and be help to those who are less fortunate than you. Why don't you volunteer, give your time to those in need and see the difference yourself.
  • ive had confirmation that im 39 on waiting list for my region, with a score of 30, oddly enough ive seen feedback for 27 for someone i know who has had a provsional offer for the same region as me.

only difference between us is that they are or were ft with dwp.

i thought internatal applicants had same chance as us all in getting a post. seems not.

internal with score of 27 = provisional offer
external with a score of 30 = 39 on waiting list

The ONLY circumstances this would ever have happened were if the other person had said they were willing to work in a remote JobCentre that very little people said they would be willing to. There has been absoultely NO preference to internal candidates I assure you. There were around 50 applicants from my site, 10 made it to interview and only 2 were selected for a provisional offer.

Think about it, why would DWP make this an external application process only to favour internal candidates? Can I also point out that if this is the case then you would have every right to raise a grievance. Either they are willing to work in a specific site that nobody else is or you have your information wrong.

may I ask when/how you contacted them? how long did they take to respond? I too have sent an email requesting my position, trying to gauge whether I still have a chance or not :)

Hi debbie, I sent one early Monday morning and have not had a reply. People seem to be getting dribs and drabs through, but think about it there is about 30000 people wanting to know the same thing, will take a while.

A little tip in the email, and this is not being condescending to the recruitment workers, but will help them: keep the email short, straight to the point, and in short one line questions if possible. They will not be bogged down with reading information they do not need.

Saying that, I have had quick responses in the past, but none so long as this, although I do understand why. That is not to say I am happy about it !!!
  • Right campers, I just got off the recruitment helpline and managed to get some important information that will apply to some if not many of us. Some is good news, some not so good I am sorry to say.

Firstly, the helpline can not give out placement orders as they simply do not have access to that information. That is easy.

Second, they are not authorised to give out the information in regards to numbers being offered in the regions. Not their fault, they simply are not allowed. You HAVE to send an email to find out.

Third, and this is not good. MOST numbers in the regions have been filled by surplus internal staff. That is why the regional numbers have been cut so dramatically in many areas, and so many of us externals have missed out in various areas. This is not very good, as only a percentage of surplus were meant to be re-deployed, but alas, the decision has been made, unfortunately, we are lumped with that. I would imagine that is those already on the EO grade.

Fourth, the customer service operater was very adamant on this. The proposed START dates are likely to be late May to early June. I stated 'that soon', and he was amused that I was the first person to look at it that way (I will have to travel over the other side of the country - west to east to relocate).

Fifth, the checks they do are required to be done in 20 days, maximum. This IS the period they have to conduct the checks, and the time starts when the regions submitted their paperwork and lists to recruiting for action. So yes, the checks are in full swing.

Sixth, it is 'unlikely' that the existing number of provisional offers made are going to change, and he was of the opinion these numbers will be the final numbers (whatever they are if you know).

Obviously, that is just the information I have been given, and perhaps others can confirm that this is what they have been told also.

    Good luck to all.

  • Hello, Thank you all for keeping me amused, especially all the people who seem to have a problem with the world.

I to am one of those who have been placed on the reserve list for H&iow with a score of 33. I have emailed to find out where i am on the list but 5 days later I am still waiting. Has anyone who's applied for H&iow any info that will help?

When I did speak to the recruitment helpline (one of those pointless phone calls!) I ask them about the location question. If I was successful in being offered a place whilst on the reserve list, do they take in to consideration the places previously requested where you could work? my situation is that I could only travel to certain offices via public transport and wouldnt be able to accept an offer on the iow. The reply which i received was rather shocking considering that they have asked us several times to fill in this form! "if you were offered a place and you couldn't get there then you would have to decline and you'd be off the list". So despite all the waiting, if I was to be offered a position, there is a good chance I would have to turn it down and the last 4 months would have been for nothing. What is even more frustrating is that should a position at my chosen venue arise a day or so after i declined an unsuitable one, I wouldnt even be considered!

Well done to all successful and fingers crossed for those on a reserve list.

Jess, absolutely brilliant news, bloody fantastic. It just goes to show, that perseverence and tenacity is a virtue.

Well done again. I am really pleased.
