    Hello,

Just a quick update, that might be of interest to y'all.

Got a voice-mail today from JCP recruitment, asking me to call them bask ASAP. I got totally over-excited thinking I might be told my location etc. - however when I called them back, it was in reference to a missing detail on my Disclosure Scotland form. I provided the detail requested and was then given the following information which confirms what some others have been saying:

    - They only have 20 working days to complete references/CRB/security checks etc. etc. (I was told the provisional offer made would be invalid if these checks took longer than 20 working days. Although this might be scaremongering on their part, maybe to ensure candidates line their referees up for a quick turnaround - but this completely freaked me out especially given the next bit..)

    - Disclosure Scotland are currently taking 15 working days to complete the CRB check. They expect this to go up. The original certificate is sent to you, at your home address and you have to send it straight on to recruitment. They will send a letter and a pre-paid envelope to your home address before the CRB bits are due to arrive. Even so that leaves at very best a working week to receive the certificate in the post, and then post it right back to recruitment for them to process etc.. I don't know about you guys, but this makes me nervous! So I asked if they couldn't just get disclosure Scotland to send the CRB straight to the recruitment department - I was advised that this was possible if I gave my authorisation for this in writing. Which I did immediately via e-mail.

Meanwhile the wait, and nail-biting continues.

    Steph

I completed the CRB form at interview and it said to fill in a certain scetion if you wanted it to go to your home address, or to fill in another bit if you were happy for them to send it straight to DWP. I did the latter so am guessing they won't 'override' this somehow and do it the long-winded way of sending to me and then for me to send to DWP, so hopefully it'll be a bit quicker?

My OH did the same thing, as the lady taking the ID said it would slow down the checks

Never mind! I am sure you were thinking about the interview more then filling out the form. You won't be the only one :)

I have just been told my place on waiting list: 26th for Black Country but 52nd for Staffs & Shrop so lets c.

As an existing CS, I have not completed the "next step" link. Am I right in assuming this isn't needed as specified on their email. I have only sent an email acceptiong offer and have had no acknowledgement for the same.

In an earlier post someone from within CS made a point of saying that their email specifically tod them that as serving CS's they didn't need to complete that. That said; can't harm to fill it in. Might slow the process down and ruffle the odd feather.....MMmmmmmmmm ;)

Congratulations to everyone who has received offers since my last time online. Well done one and all.
  • Hi Sara, congratulations on getting through. Well done. Can I presume that being notified so early that you were an internal applicant. Which region were you successful in? It has been a long wait for me, I did my interview in the early days on the 24th Feb and got notification yesterday. So 20 days longer knowing that there is a full time job on the end, I am not so highly strung any more. Thank god. I have even managed to calm my wife down a bit.

As far as the CRB goes, I have had a few done with gov dpts and I recieved a copy as well as the original being sent to the employer. Perhaps that was because it was my first one ever done in this country?!? I did not recieve a copy from the second check.

Anyway, I am sure they will pump it through as fast as civil service possible. They will want us on the ground and training as soon as they can get us. I believe someone posted yesterday there is another AA/AO campaign running, so that may be a factor (could be wrong, but I am sure I read it here somewhere) and will be a drive to finish this one sooner rather than later.

Hi! :) No, I'm external, North/Mid-Wales. I had a CRB done for the Ambulance Service and received a copy, but they had the original sent directly to them. I had a look on the CRB Scotland site and it said that the basic check would be sent directly to the name/address on the application (that's presumably mine then), so maybe that's why...but the letter I received from DWP made it sound as though I requested it be sent to me first, which I did not.

You and I are very similar in as much as I had my interview on 27th Feb (or was it the 26th? I forget!), and had my offer on Sat 7th April. It's been a long wait, but I am so looking forward to this new role - I just hope I get my preferred location.

    Good luck!

Yeah i am a civil servant in a different dept, with really good hours but as an AO, no-one else from my office got through that i know of, worked hard for this so wont turn anything down without thinking long & hard! I would definitely consider other areas but i'm not sure!!

Hope we both get what we want, i have spotted only one other person on this forum with Devon & Cornwall so you never know xx

I'm an external, I'll be coming from a part time job (fingers crossed :)) I haven't seen anyone else from devon and Cornwall on except you no I have been on here since feb so glad to see someone else from my area :) xx hopefully we won't be making any decisions as we'll get what we want :)

I think it may be worth ringing again and checking as ive had an offer from both b&s and bc, I got 35 which I think is the same as you so might be best to query it.

I have e-mailed them, and will call the helpline again tomorrow.

This kind of thing ALWAYS happens to me :(

Do we think the phone people can actually look at individual's cases or are they just for generic advice?
