I'm wondering why I haven't received a refusal too, as I applied for NW/Manchester and my score was 33. I would have thought they would have started with the lowest scores and worked upwards when doing the rejections, as from what I understand the roles are going to be offered in order of highest score first, so I would assume it would be the same system but in reverse. Who knows?

I just thought that all the unsuccessful people would be told in one go. Mindboggling, then I read this:

u should give a call to the recruitment team, another explanation could be it depends on the location form, If person A with 35 marks only wants to work in the city and there are only 2 seats , already filled by 36, 37 scores as it was their first choice- then 35 will be rejected. however someone with 31 marks is willing to travel to little twon B and there are 3 seats and no one is willing to go there then definatley this person will be invited for this job.

You may well be right. I put down for a load of areas in Manchester/North Cheshire, so that may be it.

Was emphatically stated that locations frm was NOT a preference exercise though.

Just an indicator. It shouldn't matter really.

I may be wide of the mark, but I think you applied for just about every area known to man. You will only get one offer and that will be the place they understand to be your home or preferred area. I don't know what address you used for your application but I would think it was the one nearest your accepted post.

I'm sure I was told that multiple applications will be met with only one offer if successful.

That said, your rejection at 35 points may be very well explained

People withh offers.... just out of interest, has anyone alluded to a start date yet?

Start date is provisional based on return of pre-employment checks (disclosure Scotland/CRB and references). It'll take as long as it takes I guess...

I'm convinced that the location forms we had to complete must have their part to play when they are deciding who to make offers to. This is probably why it takes each area so long to send out the offers? If all they are concerned about is the scores acheived then what is the hold up??? However, if they are matching potential candidates to preferred locations off the lists, thats more of a challenge! ;)
  • I too believe the location forms have a big part to play as at the end of my interview, one of the assessors advised me to make sure I had listed all of the offices I would be willing to travel to as that would give me a greater chance of being placed, she gave me the chance to add any I hadn't specified previously.

    Hi Makem
Nope not every area , just the one's I listed, applied for north scotland as a contigency plan in that if i got rejected !! then I may stand a better chance of a job 'in the sticks' as might not be so many people applying ! Applyed for North West as my home region and left most as possibliy as willing to travel!! As happens got a job offer form another agency, but must say tempted with the move to the highlands !! Only issue for me is I had 5 weeks off work last year following the death of my son so hope they do not rule me out on time off !!
Finally will ring the line on monday just to check if their is a mistake with the rejections !

    Sue,

They would not turn you down based on leave taken for such a tragic event. You would be immediately given two weeks paid leave for that and I don't know anyone who wouldn't be on the sick with stress for a period afterwards too. It's to be expected. More likely, if sickness were a factor, they'd check your long term sickness record,. over say three years.

If it's any consolation I joined the Civil Service after 11 years on the sick and directly from being on the sick.

Hope you get what you're after gal
