  • Has anyone had any responses so far today? I'd like to know if I should be spam-checking my emails or not.

I was def told that ALL results [unsuccessful/waiting list/merit list] would be communicated by letter first.
Bit confused to hear that some people are finding out via email???
  • Hi... Still waiting to hear has been nearly 4 weeks since my interview in Brum. What is the difference between the waiting list and the merit list. Surely you are successful, unsuccessful or on the waiting list???

Merit list means you are successful, the waiting list means you passed the interview but many scored higher so you might get the chance of a post further down the line when all the people off the merit list have been placed.

I just spoke to a colleague who has much better scores than me and he is on reserve list too with 8's.

First we all knew today when email arrived and we work for them!

And, yeah I heard 100 jobs too. I was interviewed in Glasgow but applied for Glasgow and West Scotland so Glasgow a wee bit behind with contacting by the sounds of it.

It should not be surprising if someone scoring 40/45 is on reserve list, reason,As there may not be any vacancies.one of my friend who is working with dwp mentioned that there is still no confirmation how many people they will employ in east scotland or even if they will employ any.

If no one has yet been put on the merit list then potentially they could be telling ALL successful candidates (i.e. those who havent failed) they are on the reserve list and will come back with offers when they know how many they need. Has even known.

Hopefully we will start to hear something soon. Most probably from last week of april till first week of may.

I suspect that they wouldn't do it like this if there was a net waste of money. I have been considering this and came up with the following thoughts:

The benefit reforms will probably necessitate some new staff.

Pooling the recruitment across regions like this would save a lot of money, even if some regions where not recruiting at the time they could use the merit list to ensure that the same recruitment drive could fill any positions that do become available.

If they wait until the merit list is empty to recruit again they will end up with an out of date list likely filled with people already in employment. Also, they would have to take on potentially lower quality candidates than if they conducted a new drive.
