Any news, how many seats r available in your distict??Or is still in the dark?..initially 100 posts were announced and then heared there r only 50 seats in the east scotland, while 65 people passed the interview. Fingerssss have been crossed for so long now , over a month ,think, have to see physio to get them straight.

Last I heard from Dorset, there were around 60 posts left after a position filling exercise from surplus staff at the grade.

They would only consider candidates with 30+ scores, but that was only the policy used in that area.

Not much to go on but that's as much as I know with a fair degree of accuracy.

Bizzarely, several weeks after finding out that my compentency scores had been rejected by all 5 regions that I'd applied to, I have today received a phone call from Thames Valley to ask if I was still interested in being invited to interview! Apparently they are not taking the competency scores and applications have been marked as unsuccesful by mistake.

They are now arranging interviews for people like me who don't live anywhere near the area, they are going to contact me tomorrow to offer a day and time next week. I'm in two minds whether to bother with it after all this time, but I might go ahead just for the experience.

Feel free to ignore the question, but what were your competency scores at sift?
  • It's been a while since I checked this forum but any news yet about Southern Wessex area???! Any info much appreciated!

    Well this is confusing.

I attended an interview on 1st March for my home region where I got good scores. The other two regions I applied for were left as they were. I assumed that if you were successful in the interview you would get an offer in any of the regions you had applied to.

Now a month later they have marked my competency scores in the other two areas and sent me emails saying I'm unsuccessful.

Am I wrong in what I thought? Will be ringing the recruitment hotline later if I get time although it may have to be tomorrow.

No info, no info anywhere about anything involving potentially working for the DWP. It's really quite infuriating. Tbh, it's issuing the interview feedback so far in advance of the final results which has done it. Had I bad/no feedback on the interview I would naturally assume I wouldn't get a position and get on with my life. But, when they dangle the carrot of positive scores the mind wanders!
  • Hey,
I've had my results now for nearly 4 weeks, scored 97% on the test and 88776 at interview, as far as I can see, Wessex wasn't scored on form, they aren't the best scores but they aren't bad, especially for a 20 year old out of college so I won't complain. I am pulling my hair out waiting for the outcome, luckily I do have a job, it was my college part time job, which I took on full time while looking for something better, its not a good job but I can't afford to be fussy right now. I'm on this site everyday looking for any scrap of information I can get hold of. Good luck to everyone waiting for news. :)

I am southern wessex too, I emailed the recruitment people and they said we should hear mid April. Where are you looking to work? I am hoping for the Frome region
  • I asked them for an update and got the following reply today... They seem reluctant to give me a timescale.

The Recruitment Teams have not yet been given results from the business areas as to who has been successful or unsuccessful. Once this information is known the candidates will be emailed, via the Civil Service Jobs website.
