So there is a merit list ranked according to your score out of 45.

How do they diffrentiate between candidates with the same score?

Do they use your sit test or written comps

    Thanks

Hi, I had a look at recruitment pack and it states scores only count from interview - online test and form are just used to sift interview candidates. I spoke to a friend still working at JCP who has been involved in sift and she said no offers would be made until all interviews complete. As far as I know if successful placed on merit list in rank order. Not sure how it works as several candidates will feasibly score the same - however suppose it will depend on how may vacancies available, some may receive an offer and may no longer want the job! So they will move down the list. Hope that helps a little.
  • I used to work at for the DWP until November 2011 and so have close friends who still work there and so keep in regular contact with them.
I asked if they had any news or idea when we would hear things and they said that the Band B/AO staff who have had interviews who were unsuccessful have found out as there have been updates through RM (Resource Management).
I also sent an email to Human Resources in Newcastle and at first they said i should have heard last week but then was sent a swift email from someone called Valerie who said that interviews were still been conducted and would be complted 5th April 2012 (South Yorkshire).
I hope I hear something soon but I'm not suprised as when i first started working there i had an interview August 2008 and was sucessful and told I would be offered a job and not on the waiting list but didnt start until March 2009.
Hopefully my scores of 93% in the test, 98998 in the comptencies and 88888 in the interview puts me in good stead. Good luck to every1

Bizzarely, several weeks after finding out that my compentency scores had been rejected by all 5 regions that I'd applied to, I have today received a phone call from Thames Valley to ask if I was still interested in being invited to interview! Apparently they are not taking the competency scores and applications have been marked as unsuccesful by mistake.

They are now arranging interviews for people like me who don't live anywhere near the area, they are going to contact me tomorrow to offer a day and time next week. I'm in two minds whether to bother with it after all this time, but I might go ahead just for the experience.

That's good for you and others in your position agrinall but v annoying for everyone as it means that the results will be postponed AGAIN as we'll have to wait for those interviews to be carried out.

Agrinall good to hear that at least dwp is trying to make up now, wish u good luck.

Athenajm, as u know it's not that we R hoping the outcome after 5th, recruitment clearly said ,expect the out come at least after 14th April and more likely end of the April. I know it's frustrating.....quarter of this year was spent in waiting.
I think, i have developed OCD and I do keep checking on this forum for any possible news, almost daily.while still knowing 4 weeks to go..

I guess if several candidates score the same, it will be given to the person who most wanted it, like the district is his first choice. It means more likely the people living in the vicinity will have preference over others as they would tick the district as their highest preference.
May be its different, but I think the rule is commutable distance from work, so dwp in turn is more likely to pick people from their respective districts. And the final decision is on them how they will judge which candidate is better than the other if both have same scores and same preference.

One system I have known of previously is that they have an order of preferred competency with what they decide before hand is the most important competency first. So for example, if they regard the most important competency as customer service, when they have a draw, they then grade within that competency so that the people that got a nine are ahead of those with eight and so forth.

They can then go through the order until they satisfy the required allocation. They will not rely on test or sift because all they can be sure of is that it was you at interview. Anyone could have completed your test or assisted your sift preparation.

If that fails then I suppose you comments are considered or indeed a second interview which is an option allowed under this system.

What would anyone else imagine may be a fairer system?

I’d be interested in your opinions.
