Ok after feeling ok about my score (67898)I am now becoming increasingly worried. All this talk of internal Vs external and rumours of how many positions are available has made me convinced that there could be just almost no chance for decent, ie not 40 and above candidates.

Can anyone put to rest these rumours of internal applicants being favoured?
Internal candidates (who applied internally) are only competing for the jobs that were advertised internally - jobs that you would never even have seen the ad for.

Internal candidates who have applies externally (such as myself) have exactly the same chance of anyone else who applied externally (such as yourself) for the jobs advertised.

Worth noting however, that the vacancies in each region were only provisional numbers, so if, for example the internal sift was not as successful as hoped, there may be more external vacancies. And vice versa.

Nothing's set in stone, but while I don't think you should necessarily start booking holidays and spending your new salary, I also don't think you have any cause for panic... what will be will be :)

It seems the earlier your interview the quicker your results. As it progresses the days increases for the results. Someone who had interview on the 10th, results on the 20th. It looks like a multiple of 5 days. See, there is a pattern. Looks like you shall hear yours in 20 days time and me 25 days.:D

The vacancies for E London is back to around 50 now. Therefore the marks set will be very high. Not good news I'm afraid.

Ha ha. I like your logic, flawed as it may be (like the whole process?). What is the term? - ''exponential rate of increase'' in the number of days as the interviews wear on. I was told by the panel that all interviews will be completed by 23 March (think someone else confirms that on the thread or says 22 March, but then someone mentions 4 April). The panel also said I/everyone 'could potentially' expect results 'after' mid-April(!). So, that makes it:
    5 days X 6.67 = 33 days+ ? Ergo - your logic is correct.:)
I'm sorry I'm not that bright but how does it take a month to score someone after a competency-based interview (while it takes about 2 hours to 5 days for some)? + how does it take two months to get an interview when competencies are not even marked? I surrender:o Good luck everybody who is waiting for interview scores.
    Where's Walter_Wall with his deep insightful analysis??:D

Just thinking about locations, lots of folk on here seem to have knowledge of where they may be based if successful, or at least, where they have requested to be based. My DH wasn't asked where he wanted to be based - he applied for Hampshire and Isle of Wight - and was interviewed in Havant on 2 March. When he queried location at interview the Panel said he would be sent an email within a week asking him to choose 1st, 2nd and 3rd location choices. Needless to say there's been no further communication. He was also told he would receive an email thanking him for attending interviewing and informing him of a date for feedback, nah, didn't get one of those either. Still hoping they will stick to their promised date of 23rd for outcome......not holding our breath though.....although with 37/45 one can't help but remain quietly hopeful (please please please!!!).
Anybody still out there on this thread with Hants/Isle of Wight experience/knowledge? Cheers
  • West London? anyone?

I was told at my interview feedback in a few days and a yes or no in about two weeks... that was a long time ago!!

I was also told at my interview (in SE Scotland on 5th March) that we'd hear in a couple of weeks time and that feedback would appear before then. Got the feedback about a week later and have heard nothing since. Not that I doubt the integrity of people online but thought it best to get the message from the horses mouth, so I phoned the helpline today and they confirmed that it should be around mid-April before we hear as NW don't finish their interviews until 4th April. It's really frustrating to have such a long delay but I guess that they weren't expecting to have so many people apply. I can only hope that I get something else in the meantime as it would be a dream to be able to actually turn down a job in the current climate! I still live in hope though as I actually would really like the job at DWP...oh well, back to the drawing board!

Could someone please confirm that 0845 603 2694 is the correct number for JCP helpline for vacancy queries. Also, is there a regular STD number to call instead (my DH can't make 0845 calls from his phone, I'm sure they wouldn't tell me anything if I rang). Thanks

That is the number but I can't find an alternative 01 number I'm afraid.

Okay. Now I'm confused although sort of relieved at the same time. I thought the helpline may not be entirely correct so I thought why not email the people that confirmed my interview slot too? See below...this would presumably apply to East/South East Scotland although who knows?

    "Dear Graham,

Hopefully the results will be out at the weekend or early next week.

    Regards

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I interviewed for the position of Executive Officer for the DWP in East/South East Scotland on the 5th March and was advised at the interview that we'd be likely to hear back within two weeks. I have noted my feedback on the CS website although I have yet to hear a final outcome. Can you confirm when I am likely to hear whether I've been successful or not, please?

    Many thanks
    Graham"

    hi muginawa,

I feel exactly the same lol (see my post from yesterday) I am also worried about whether there are actually any jobs for us, although Jess star does give a good explanation I am still really nervous, esp after reading the link posted above, did you read that? it says external ppl will just be put on a waiting list in case they need to recruit later in the year??

I'll be gutted if that happens cos who knows whether that will lead to an actual job - confused.com I just want to be put out of my misery now and know either way! I feel we have all waited long enough and to just go on a 'waiting' list after all this will be devastating :(
