I have an interview with DWP, London for EO position. Please I would like to know if anybody have gone for the interview yet and any chance to advice me how the interview looks like.

    What Questions do they ask?

    Please HELP!!!

If you look back over this thread for the past few pages you will see many people have had interviews and have posted their experiences. Just scroll back and check them out.

In a nutshell it appears that that the 5 competencies as listed in the application form will be the focus of the interview with questions coming from the bullet points under the competencies as listed in the documentation we all had access to to write our competencies. No one knows the exact questions you may be asked - you just need to know your competencies back to front as well as maybe a second example for each if you can.

My interview is tomorrow and I don't think I can do anymore except have a restful evening and be there on time tomorrow.

Good luck for yours whenever it is.

Seriously, just have a look at the DWP website; it's all there in black and white.

  • I am looking at the DWP Competency Framework for the Operational Delivery Profession – Face to Face sheet with all the competancies described. On the first page, all 6 competences are described. On pages 2 and 3, there is an additional heading of "MANAGER/SENIOR PRACTITIONER – LEVEL 2", and the competencies are repeated in much more detail. I'm not sure which level is for this job. Hoping it's the first one!

Sorry to burst your bubble Thunderplex, but it's level 2 you need to be concentrating on.

The post you're going for is a manager level post.

    Good luck with that!

yes unfortunately it was for yesterday afternoon and I had to be somewhere else. Saturday is not a good day as you cannot call their call centre. I will let you know about the outcome.

As you never informed them of your absence in advance (did you even call the centre and let them know) I would suspect that your application may have been withdrawn. I'm sure, knowing the address of the centre, that you might have quite easily sourced a telephone number for the building and passed on a message.

That said, I hope you get another opportunity, but I'm not at all optimistic.

Hi, nice to see people getting good scores here.
    Couple of questions

when presenting your competencies in the interview did you lot cover all the points for each sub heading under each comp. i.e. for Building Capability you cover all the bullet points under Working Collaboratively, Communicating with Impact & Developing Knowledge/Skills.

Because for some comps it’s difficult to cover all points using one example. Did you lot you more than one example for a comp?

Could someone also help me with the breakdown of the interview time? I heard it was 5 mins for each comp. so based on this comps with take up 25mins. So what happen for the other 20mins in the interview as it book for 45mins.

    thanks

There is no "set" timeframe for the interviews other than the appointment after yours will be an hour later unless it hits on lunch.

My interview lasted 50 minutes. That entailed a very brief introduction to both panellists and them checking whether I had ever had a situational interview before. I had, but obviously if I hadn’t been in this type of interview before I would imagine I’d have been briefed on the process and expectations.

I was told there would be five questions. What followed varies between areas and interviewers if everything reported on this thread is true. In my case I was asked to provide an example of a time when I helped build the capability of the business I was working in. I asked if they required different examples of competency than those submitted for sift and was told that they had no idea what I’d submitted or what scores I had achieved.

All of my questions were as the competencies with no tricks or particular bullet points asked for. This meant I just covered all of the main points of each competency as fully as I could.

After all 5 questions I was asked if I’ like to add anything to any answers. After that I was asked if I had any questions to ask them about anything to do with the process or job.

That was that. No 5 minute time limits on questions. If they wanted more, they asked more. One thing they asked about my Customer Service example was, “who do I regard as my customer?” You may get the odd question like that over and above your five competency questions. No guarantees that this will be the same all over.
