DWP Recruiting Again - 2012

Will be leaving for my interview in an hour and a half, have given myself over two hours to make the hour long trip to oxford.

My nerves are terrible! Will start reading over my notes soon but I just mainly wanted to concentrate on relaxing this morning.

LOL - I know I will be giving myself a good hour to make the 20 min drive for my interview in Stafford in 10 days time. Good luck - just relax and breathe and you will be fine. Look forwards to hearing how it went.

They ONLY ask you the 5 questions about the competences...

We are going to talk about Building Capability give me and example when.....

He also said we did ALOT, they stopped him and said, what was your actual role though, what did you do?

The panel really are willing to help you, not trying to trip you up!


So everyone relax and just know your examples and it should be a stress free process!!!!


Mine is tomorrow, wish I could take my own advice haha!! Nerves are horrible eh?

When I was signing on the other day I was suppose to have an interview with my advisor - these happen every other month for me. Well this was a re-arranged one as my advisor was sick last month and she was sick again so I met with another advisor for a 'quick' meeting. He asked what he could do for me so I asked him if he enjoyed his job. He was a little taken aback but said yes. I then explained I have an interview set up as part of this recruitment drive and he was then very happy to speak about the job and his own interview experience in 2009. He told me that one of the most important things to remember when talking about the competencies was to use 'I' all the time. What 'I' did and how 'I' did it. He really could not stress that more. And he wished me luck.

Good luck to you and yes it is much easier to tell others to relax but more difficult to do it yourself. Let us know how it goes.

i posted a bit ago to see if anyone had made a compliant or had any info on not agreeign with the feedback and stuff anyone help out with this??

I made a compliant Monday/Tuesday to the 'recruitment coordinator' for my area...and was told I could not request my competencies be reviewed.

You can get the name/email address of a contact for your area by emailing
WORKFORCEMANAGEMENT.TEAM2-SHEFFIELD@DWP.GSI.GOV.UK


In my original email I stated that I did not understand how I could have received a '1' for every single competency (when I HAD given specific examples). I also stated that I wondered if my competencies had even been looked at, and whether the 'feedback' had just been copied and pasted next to each one!

The full reply I had was as follows


Dear ***

I can assure you that your competency examples were looked at and the same feedback was given as it applied to them all. The feedback was not input by the person who sifted your form. The evidence you gave did not satisfy the behavioural indicators expected for these competencies. You cannot request for the competencies to be reviewed as the sifters decision is final. The only recourse is if you think that there has been mismanagement of the process. If you think this is the case then you must state the reason why you think that has occurred.

I understand that you are disappointed with the result but this is the system that DWP uses for selection.

To say I was peed off with this reply is an understatement!


The 'feedback' next to ALL of my competencies was:

No specific examples provided Please note:- This feedback does not mean that you will or will not be invited for interview. Once all application forms for this vacancy have been considered we will then decide which applicants are to be invited to the interview stage. You will receive further notification to confirm the outcome of your application shortly.


Anyway - hope this helps. I'm off out now, happy to help again later if you need it.

Has anyone had problems with accessing the forms and guidance links they have been given when they booked the interview? All the links I was given for the documents (such as 'what to bring to the interview') don't work. I have emailed DWP to ask them to email me copies but they're taking a long time to reply. If anyone has them on file somewhere I would be grateful for copies. If you can email them to me PM me for my email address. Seriously panicking here!

Try inserting "https://" in front of the web address, worked for me.

This forum has been so useful.

I was wondering if anyone disputing there competencies scores, have heard anything back?

And does anyone know when the AO vacancies are out?
