Its like a waiting list. You get put on the list in competancy score order and they recruit people from the list as vacancies are available.

A merit list will list everyone in the district who has passed the interview in order of best score first. In that order they will contact people offering them a work place from the areas they wish to work in. Sort of first come first serve, so the higher up the list the more chance of working in the area of your choice. Once they have enough the rest of the list becomes the waiting list and again will be contacted in order as and when needed. So if 50 needed and 150 are on the merit list once 50 are placed 51 becomes top person on the waiting list. Hope this helps.

So are the interview competences marked in the same way as the application form?

Meaning do we still get marked out of 9 for each on and have to score 4 or above to get through on to the waiting list?

    Hi Everyone,

Well I think my interview went well, it was the same as previously explained here.

Went in 25min early, filled in lots of paperwork and they took copies of the paperwork I had provided (p45's etc.) Then went in for interview.

Two staff explained they would ask me five questions based on the competencies, then they asked further questions for example ' can you explain how you managed the ups and downs with the staff members behavior'

At the end they asked if I had any questions or if I'd like to add anything else. I said I was worried I had not covered everything in delivering a professional service as it had a lot of bullet points, they then spent a good couple of minutes reading through them and said they believed that I had covered everything. So all in all a good one :)

Thanks for that!! Didnt realise I could ask a question like that.... Mine is tomorrow, so FINGERS crossed

Need to try not look at my paperwork and give them lots of eye contact.......

Cant wait for it all to be over now......:rotfl:
  • I felt my interview went well and the written feedback was positive but the scores are 6,5,4,3,3. Does this mean I won't make it to the merit list?

I dont know this for FACT, but according to the recruitment pack, if you fail the interview you will get written feedback, if you pass they wont give feedback unless you request it....?

I think thats what I read anyway, please dont take what I am saying as gospel, you would need to check on the DWP site.
