Makes sense - I'd certainly wait until you get offered an interview - but it is worth printing off those two sets of scores as well as your applications showing you used the same competencies for both applications as the level of discrepency between those scores is too large to be acceptable by any organisation.

Great advice! I have saved all my examples and scores seperately and will also print off my app form from the CS site.
Not sure it will make any difference - they are a large organisation, but it's the principle - the marking does not appear to be 'fair'

Hmmm...... makes one wonder how many other discrepancies and instances of unfair marking have happened.

  • They carried over my test scores from Black country to Staff/shrops so I guess they will carry over my sift scores too.
My only hope is B'ham :(

Are they actually showing up under the feedback for staffs/shrops? If not I wouldn't be so quick to assume they were/are carried over.

The test scores are showing the same [I scored higher for B'ham] but not the sift scores [yet].
I am so grateful for this forum. It is good to have people to chat to about this stressful process.
Good luck to everybody who is yet to hear! :A

Dr who you should phone the recruitment line that's absolutely ridiculous if your gettin different scores for the same thing.... Problem is you don't want them to take your lower score or you don't want them to think your being a t*** to them.

As for the forms to help with competencies.... The only one I could find was a adobe file which had the five competencies in a table with bullet points but I could not find the other document what was posted earlier

Those scores I posted were for previous internal only exercises, but I was highlighting how subjective the sift can be.

In the end when they get large numbers they tend not to be as diligent or fair when it comes to competency scores. I have some horror stories which include turning up to a Grade 7 interview and the interview panel having only received 1/2 my competencies (yet the initial tests and competency sift had rejected anyone who had failed to to score high enough) as the interview focused in far more detail on the 250 words comps I did feel it particularly unfair.

Unfortunately there have been quite a few previous posts that have said that 4 is the pass mark. I'm not sure where they have got their information from.

    1-3 = poor example
    4-6 = good example
    7-9 = excellent example

In every previous recruitment exercise I took part in they rejected any candidate who scored less than 4.

In some previous exercises they raised the 'pass' to 6.

Based on what people have said about the quality of the higher scorers I would assume that if you got at least 4 in every competency that you have a good chance of getting an interview.

6 or above and I would say your almost certainly going to get an interview.

    Hi

does anyone know if applying under the Guaranteed Interview Scheme, does it mean you are guaranteed to be invited to interview if you pass the online test, or guaranteed to be marked on the competencies (thus then finding out if you have got an interview dependent on marks?). This link suggests the former: http://www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/rec-support-pack.pdf but I have just seen my markings for the competencies and have not quite got 4 in every one, so want to know if this is the end of the road for me :(

You'd still need to get 4 because anything less than 4 is a poor example.
