Finally all ready for Christmas and enjoying the last week of build up, OH has finished work until the New Year and I finish Thursday so we're really lucky to be able to enjoy lots of family time. Christmas party for little ones tomorrow, they have a special guest visiting so I'm hoping there won't be tears!
Hope you have a fab holiday Twinny:beer:

Start new year declutter, doesn't seem like a year since I last did it!
I've set target for 3 year challenge but seriously thinking of paying off more/all of my mortgage rather than having it sat in savings. Receiving another lump sum later in the year so have a while to decide and will keep chipping away until then.
Happy New Year all :beer:0 -
It's been a busy week and the loft is nearly sorted, my aim was to halve what was up there and we're not far off. Just 2 boxes left to go through, no idea what is in them though. Sadly haven't found much that can be sold but we have freed up lots of space. In the spring we are going to do the same with the garage but in the meantime I will aim to sort through all the drawers and cupboards.
After more discussions with OH as to what to do with inheritance & endowment we'll be receiving this year we're nearly decided on clearing the mortgage and then saving for a few years to extend our house. We already have savings earmarked for this but we've still got the risk of OH being made redundant, so waiting a couple of years until we've more idea where we are income wise seems sensible.
Have had fun with the OP calculation which shows that we'll save another £9k if we pay it off this summer. Have booked what will hopefully be our first mortgage free holiday for later in the year, we weren't planning on going away this year so really pleased that we now can :j0 -

Was just reading about the changes to the H Reward account, looks like I need to sort out moving 2 direct debits to this account to keep the £5 reward. Which 2 to choose?
Sold 1st ebay item of 20130 -
Cheque received from the Magpie people for my CDs/DVDs, just under £5 so need to add another £5 to this month's OP at the end of the week.
Also have my FD regular saver maturing this week so may add some of this to my OP, need to discuss with OH.
As we can now afford for the little people to go to pre school a couple of mornings a week need to look into that. Hoping that they can start after Easter.
Nap time for little people over so best go wake them.0 -
NSD here and started to declutter the house. Started with the lounge and threw out to carrier bags of stuff, also have another pile of DVDs to go onto ebay when the current ones finish. Not many watchers so far on the items I listed last weekend so hoping for a late surge!
Interest showing on my regular saver, will open another one but will add at least the £125 interest to the OP tomorrow. Total minimum OP to make tomorrow £475.
Back to work tomorrow, not been in since 20th December and that seems so long ago :eek:0 -

Ah, I hadn't spotted that, and we have 2 reward accounts, not sure I can face moving 4 direct debits to 2 seperate accounts, then make sure there is money left in both to cover them. It's just too complicated and I'm sure I'll end up overdrawn. I can't move my current account altogether as we have an off-set mortgage it reduces interest on. Looks like I may have to say goodbye to my £10 reward each month:(Re-mortgaged 20/04/12 MTiT-T3 No.7Start balance £89611.10 + £22500 = £112111.10/Current balance £85436.53
Original Mortgage Free Date April 2032
Target Mortgage Free Date July 2022/Currently August 2029 (based on no offset)

Hi Megela, maybe just keep one? I'm thinking of moving my contact lenses and something else small, bit of a pain but only need to move them once to keep £60 pa. Have decided against opening one for DH though0

1st OP of the year made, rounded my £475 up to £500. I've also opened another regular saver with FD.
I'm shattered from being back at work and got to go in again tomorrow :eek:0
