If they ordered more stuff than you then you would have done well out of the deal!

Why's that? Do you struggle with the English language? Your language, spelling and grammar all seem perfectly reasonable judging by your post.

To give you a helping hand and for future reference, Chambers dictionary gives the following definition:

restaurant noun an establishment where meals may be bought and eaten.

    Hope this helps!

McDs is a fast food joint. If someone told me that we were going to a restaurant and we ended up at McDs they'd be in trouble!
Don't grow up. Its a trap!

Its a bit of a snobby attitude to take. Of course you wouldn't go to Macdonalds for a nice evening meal as it specialises in fast cheap food.

However I don't see that as any reason to deprieve the place from rightly being called a restaurant!

I'd be inclined to agree - but it *is* still technically a restaurant.

    take a pen - it could be a £250 Mont Blonc or a 25p biro - it's still a pen

I would also be annoyed if i was told we were going to a restaurant and we ended up at Nando's. However Nando's appears to fit the "restaurant criteria" of plates and cutlery!

Our local Nando's is quite flashy, I'd be tempted to call it a restaurant.

I went to Nando's for the first time the other day. Exciting!

Only a real chav would call a fast food place a 'restaurant'. And the only reason they do so is because that's what they are used to and McD themselves started calling their holes by that name - much to the amusement of anyone with a clue.

As far as I know they are the only cheap caf! that suffers from that particular delusion. Virtually all others accept that are something different - even those that are well above McD in terms of service and food quality.

Not really the same thing at all, is it? There is no tradition of calling a fountain pen a pen and a Biro something else.

Yeah I like Nando's. Thinking about it I probably wouldn't be that disappointed!
