Why do McDonalds make ordering so frustrating!

Firstly, yes I admit this is a very minor point in the bigger scheme of things, but it is really starting to niggle with me!
I happen to be rather partial to the Spicy Vegetable Deli at McDonalds, not something I eat all the time, but if I'm out and about it's one of my first choices for something to fill a hole.
The Spicy Veggie was one of the "Deli Sandwiches" on the menu for a few years, however about a year ago or so they replaced this with the "Deli Choices" range. To order this, I used to be able to go to the counter and simply state "Spicy Veggie Please". That was it, no questions and I got what I ordered.
Since they changed the menu to include wraps and sandwiches, I have worked out it doesn't matter how I order, I am always asked to clarify what I would like. The menu refers to the product a wrap as a "wrap" and in a roll as a "sandwich", now if I order the wrap there are no problems (I don't though, as the wrap is rubbish). When I want the sandwich though, the following always happens:
Me - "Can I have a Spicy Vegetable sandwich please?"
Staff - "Was that the wrap or the deli?"
Me - "Can I have a Spicy Vegetable deli please?"
Staff - "Was that the wrap?"
Me - "No, the sandwich."
Staff - "Sure, one Spicy Vegetable deli, anything else?"
So what am I supposed to order?
If I ask for the sandwich, the staff always ask if I mean the deli. If I order the deli, I get asked if I want a wrap or a sandwich.
It seems no matter what term I use to specify the product I want, the staff will get me to clarify I want the same product but with the other term.
Really annoying!

I, for one, am glad you registered to post that vent.
I have no advice for you unfortunately, but it does put 3rd world hunger into perspective
When you have finished ordering you could ask the person taking the order what you could have said to get there quickly, although that would add another 2 sentences to the exchange.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -

I actually have to agree with op here. When I eat at McDonalds I tend to order a sweet chilli deli for which I ask 'Can I have a sweet chilli deli-sandwich meal please?' and get the same response 'is that the wrap or the sandwich?'.
I guess its because many people say this when infact they really want the wrap -- then complain when they receive the sandwich and not the wrap.0 -

It's to make sure they get it right.
It's irritating, but I'd prefer that to them getting the order wrong, which happens 99% of the time I order there.
Edit - Can you put brown sugar in coffee? I've never been asked that.0 -
We are spoilt for choice these days
Can I have a coffee ?
Yes, white or black ?
White
Sugar or no sugar ?
2 please.
White or brown sugar ?
White
Do you want coffee in a cup or mug ?
Cup
Would that be small, medium or large ?
The list goes on and on and on .....
You must be going to some posh coffee places where they not only add the sugar for you, but give you a choice of sugars! :rotfl:0 -
I go to Macdonalds. I like the Chilli Chicken Wrap.
I ask for a Chilli Chicken Wrap please.
Guess what i get ? Yep, exactly what i ordered ! Now isn't that amazing ?
OP, you should get out more.0 -
Op, ignore the idiots. They seem to be out in full force tonight.
Welcome to MSE!0 -
OP- you should realize that if you post on here complaining about something, it is always your fault as you should learn to communicate better, you have a sad life behind the computer and should go out more, you should discipline your children , it is in macdonald,s terms and conditions that they are entitled to ask you these questions, if you do not like their service you should go elsewhere but don't you dare come on here and rant on a forum titled- praise, vents and warnings.
Spot on dfh2012. Now tootle off back to your other post.0
