Why do McDonalds make ordering so frustrating!

Why's that? Do you struggle with the English language? Your language, spelling and grammar all seem perfectly reasonable judging by your post.
To give you a helping hand and for future reference, Chambers dictionary gives the following definition:
restaurant noun an establishment where meals may be bought and eaten.
Hope this helps!
so's a cafe, but you'd call it a cafe.0 -

And if the owner had more than one cafe, would you refuse to use the term cafe and refer to it only as a branch?0 -
Are you Ronald McDonald? why does it concern you that somebody doesn't want to call a fast food place, a restaurant?0

Secondly, I wouldn't go storming back in to complain as to be honest, I don't really care if I get given the wrap by accident. It's not quite as good, but still perfectly edible.
Thirdly, there's a difference between double checking and repeating the order back, than asking a question. Whenever you place an order, it's good practice for the person taking it to repeat back to you. So in this scenario:
Me - "Hi, I'd like a Spicy Vegetable Sandwich please."
Staff - "Sure, one Spicy Vegetable Sandwich. Anything else?"
That is fine, that is simply good practice, unlike:
Me - "Hi, I'd like a Spicy Vegetable Sandwich please."
Staff - "Sure, was that the wrap or the deli?"
In this scenario, I'm being asked to clarify something I have already been quite specific about. There always seems to be a bit of a discrepency between which stores want me to refer it to a sandwich and which as the deli also.
Would you not find it slight odd to go into a shop and ask for £30 cashback, only to get the response "Sure, was that £20 or £30?" or maybe "Did you mean 2 x £15?".
£30 is unambiguous. For whatever reason the MuckDonalds staff don't find your order unambiguous and therefore try to clarify it. Probably because their experience has shown them that, despite people ordering fairly clearly, they're not actually ordering what they think they are."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

It's completely unhelpful. Also rather naive and somewhat stupid.
Most civilised people make a distinction between places where you can simply order and eat food and a restaurant.
A couple of those distinctions are having cutlery supplied and getting table service.
I suppose someone who was so unsophisticated that they had only ever eaten in fast food outlets might be incapable of making the distinction to to most it's not difficult. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
When I go to McDonalds I always order a Double Cheeseburger - only Kethcup and with only 1 cheese, which always get a strange reaction and then they have to call a manager over.
Come on its not that difficult to comprehend is it......:beer:In My 'Permanant' Pre-Masters Gap Year

No. It's because Mcdonalds is not a restaurant. Here's an idea - take your sarcasm and idiocy and shove it up your fat behind you pompous arrogant moron.0 -
Just thinking,it's gotta be over 2 years since I ate a McDonalds..Not too keen on them myself & because the nearest on to me is 8 miles away, cheaper & quicker to make my own or get one from the chippy when you factor in petrol/time ect.0

One of the one's near me has self-order points inside now - problem solved!
Although, had an amusing exchange with one of the members of staff the other day (in a different one)
me: Plain 1/4lb with Cheese please
them: is that just the burger?
me: no, I'd like the cheese and the bun as well
them: yes, that's fine - but just the burger?
me: (confused) no - with cheese - no salad/sauce
[goes on a few more times]
wife: (butting in...) No, he would like it as a meal please
oops :d0 -

Mcdonalds is a restaurant. Not a particularly good one but it clearly is a restaurant. I would refer to it as a "Fast food restaurant" if anyone asked me what sort of eating establishment it was.
Not sure there is any need to move into abuse over this!
On the OP's point they all have to follow a script which means they have to do things like upsell to a large meal. Its annoying but despite the questions it is still very fast food. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
