Its a bit of a snobby attitude to take. Of course you wouldn't go to Macdonalds for a nice evening meal as it specialises in fast cheap food.

However I don't see that as any reason to deprieve the place from rightly being called a restaurant!

I will confess to having ' a snobby attitude' to the places I eat in. For example when cousins come from abroad you take them to a place which has flaming torches up the driveway and where the food is cooked as you order it rather than kept hot waiting for someone to order it.

When I'm occasionally in a hurry or have children with me then McDs is fine but it isn't a meal. It is a snack.
Don't grow up. Its a trap!

Try ordering a burger without the roll (ok, McBun) for a special diet

"Big Mac, no bun please, with cutlery"
"Oh right, Big Mac, no bun" (calls over manager)
Manager "that's fine, just order the customer a Big Mac, no bun, with cutlery"
Server "ok so that's a Big Mac, no bun, with cutlery"
What did we get every time?
Plain burgers, no salad, no sauce, no pickle, no onions ... no cutlery!

I'd be inclined to agree - but it *is* still technically a restaurant.

    take a pen - it could be a £250 Mont Blonc or a 25p biro - it's still a pen

It is a fast food outlet.

If I was referring to my pen (Scheaffer) I wouldn't say I was looking for a pen otherwise someone might hand me a biro. I'd call it my fountain pen to distinguish it from other lesser pens.

I've never been to Nandos but some of my FB friends rave about it whenever they go.

So it's not only not a restaurant it's not even a meal! I have no idea how 'large' you are but personally I would never class a burger, fries and a drink as just a snack! Still each to their own

OK compare it to a starter, burger and pud at somewhere like Frankie and Bennies. I don't like the quality of F&B and the service/cooking is a bit hit and miss but it does come under what I would call a meal.

    McDs is just a snack.

So if it's not three courses it's not a meal. That's an interesting perspective to adopt! Incidentally frankies is awful. An absolutely terrible place to go. The food is all frozen then fried up

Clearly you've never eaten at Mcdonalds then because if you say you are anything less than hungry an hour after eating it, then you are a massive liar.

Mcdonalds food isn't fulfilling in the slightest.

I'm just not fat. Therefore I find a burger and chips quite enough on the very rare occasion I attend a macdonalds restaurant.

I gather people eat multiple portions, there.

Despite the abysmal quality the food, whatever degree of filling you experience should last for a reasonable amount of time as both the protein and fat in the meat and the fat that saturates the chips are slowly digested.
